I hope everyone has enjoyed their summer as it comes to a close. Time, especially during the summer months, has a way of flying by. Its already time for our September meetup.
Its been an especially busy and exciting month at WorthPoint with three major events capturing our time and attention in the IT department:
-
We teamed up with the American Presidential Experience by co-sponsoring a booth at the Democratic National Convention. This was a highly successful event that presented us with our highest site usage to date.
-
WorthPoint announced it's plans to acquire GoAntiques. Like any acquisition it entails a massive amount of planning on both ends to integrate platforms, memberships, databases and all the other details that crop up.
-
Heritage Auction Galleries, the world's largest collectibles auctioneer and third-largest auction house, announced that they have selected WorthPoint as a data-publishing partner.
To get to the point though (sorry, I didn't mean to create a WorthPoint press release here :D ), as you can see we've been swamped in August and let this week sneak up on us. We have not been able to coordinate or plan a presentation for this month's meeting.
If anyone would like to offer a presentation then please let me know and we'll do what we can to assist. We can try to get space at TeqCorner for Tuesday but it may not be the large conference room.
If no one responds then we'll see you in October.
Thanks,
Marc....

September Meeting
It would be good to get something on the calendar for September to keep the momentum going. Ten Mile Square is busy with a new Drupal implementation for our animals.com client. Phase 2 Tech is engaged as the development partner. It's nice to see a development plan that delivers meaningful features in weeks rather than months. The velocity on this, our first Drupal implementation, is much better than the commercial CMS platforms we've worked on (Tridion, FatWire, Percussion, Vignette, etc.).
Rick
October meeting instead?
Marc, it is obviously a bit too late now to coordinate for tomorrow. I think Rick was talking about an October (or maybe later September meeting)?
Phase2 can come up with a list of popular topics that have been discussed in passing at past events and poll the group for an October meeting headliner.

Future events - location and topic focus?
Jeff:
There has been some interest expressed in holding the event in a location that is public transportation accessible, and having more of a focus on Drupal technology and less on business. I have begun to think that we may want to break this into two events a month - one about Drupal technology and one about Drupal business.
Your thoughts?

Worth discussing
Andy, I think that is appropriate and worth discussing the details, although, I would love to leverage the same interested group members for attendance at both. It is true that a lot of interest has been generated for the venue to be near a metro. We were thinking somewhere in Arlington that is central for DC, Alexandria, Tysons corridor (and obviously) Arlington people. Can I give you a shout this week on the phone to discuss the details and logistics of trying this approach?
Thanks,
Jeff
