Drupal camp

How about the weekend after the Super Bowl for all us football fans?

That would be February 7th /

That would be February 7th / 8th (Superbowl is the 1st)

Considering that SuperBowl is in Tampa, that might make a lot of sense as far as travel is concerned. Prices to Orlando and Tampa will probably be inflated.

breaking the 5 minute rule

I'm probably breaking the 5-minute rule here since I missed the meet-up on Saturday, but why aren't we considering any 2008 weekends?

Mike, The idea of doing

liberatr's picture

Mike,

The idea of doing DrupalCamp this year was casually discussed, but in talking to a couple of folks, particularly Kevin (cyberswat), who helped run DrupalCamp in Colorado, we can do a great event if we give everyone plenty of time to plan for it.

This has worked really well for the first two Orlando BarCamps, giving them a big lead time and allowing us the opportunity to connect with possible attendees, session leaders, venues and sponsors.

Seems like MindComet still might be a great place to hold the event -- they also have a back room that can be set up like a classroom, and a couple of small 12-15 person rooms with projectors / digital whiteboards that can be used for smaller breakout sessions or just reserved as ad-hoc or Birds of a Feather rooms.

They're all equally good for me.

Same here - any date works

Same here - any date works for me! Are there any more details on the Florida DrupalCamp?

As of this exact moment,

liberatr's picture

As of this exact moment, these are the plans:

Hold the event in the meeting room of MindComet, and their all-purpose room in the back, as well as some breakout rooms elsewhere in the compound.

Go all day. Get sponsors, lunch, maybe some shirts, that sort of thing.

Invite Drupal gurus from all over the place to come hang out in Orlando, then take them out and show them what we have to offer in the Winter when the rest of the Earth is covered with snow.

Learn lots about Drupal, empower some folks with knowledge about how to contribute to the community, write some modules, and otherwise be awesome.

Mindcomet

dharveymi's picture

Sounds good to me. If we do a preregistration, we could have a better idea about how many people would be interested and maybe Mindcomet wouldn't be big enough. Otherwise we should limit registration quite severely.

I edited this poll wondering why I could not vote -- so I extended the time period and then all of the votes were gone... sorry..

The counts were:

1 vote for Jan 10th
6 votes for Feb 7th
1 vote for Feb 14th
1 vote for Feb 21st

Joe, Can't you reset the

liberatr's picture

Joe,

Can't you reset the counts by hand? I made the poll, but I'm not allowed to edit it... I think there is a way to set the votes in there. I can't re-vote now, and I doubt anyone who voted in the past can either.

I will try that out

joemoraca's picture

I didn't see a way to do it -- I will recreate it tonight. But it seems the "winning" dates seem to be the best time to do it based on our discussions at the meeting Saturday.

wait and see

Let's not spend too much time worrying about the poll - I've already been in touch with Andrew about looking into the availability of the facility for the 2 dates we discussed at the meetup on Saturday.
