Policy on crediting sponsors?
I'm wondering if there's any official policy regarding crediting sponsors on G.D.O. - Could an individual credit sponsors in such a way as is displayed here?. Obviously there would have to be some guidelines if such a thing were allowed.

Wouldn't it depend on the group and its membership? Are these groups autonomous?

There are specific issues in which we're trying to define some guidelines (as part of this project - http://groups.drupal.org/node/16144), but the challenge is trying to figure out what is acceptable in such a large group with few voices -

I do like the DIY approach, but I'm not sure just trying things out on someone else's site is the best idea.
