Tentative date/location for DrupalCamp Philly - Nov 19th!

nategasser's picture

So, we have some trouble with the university locations not being available during the day -- got very close but couldn't make it work. Next time we'll know to plan MUCH farther ahead if we want a university during the day.

But, we've got a hold on Wednesday, November 19th at The Hub which is in the Cira Center -- the tall building with all the lights attached to 30th Street Station. It's easy to get to from everywhere, ultra-convenient if anyone's coming from NYC or DC, and the facility itself is very state-of-the-art with on-site tech people to hook us up with projection and bandwidth needs.

We've got two adjacent rooms with a removable wall. This link shows the floorplan -- we've got the Huntington and J. Cooke rooms.
http://www.thehub.com/floorplan-cira.php. Combined they hold about 115 people set up classroom style (chairs and desks). If we want it, we could add a 3rd adjacent room to hold another 30 people, which could also give us another session. But unless the registrations start pouring in, it seems like the 2 should be sufficient.

It's beautiful, top-end space in a great location. But there's a lot to be worked out still -- sessions, speakers, registrations, etc.

Think we could hold an in-person planning meeting this week to get started on these details?
Anyone willing to offer some space to meet up?

Nate, this is excellent. I look forward to word about a planning meeting, though I don't have any space to offer.

This time...

One day this time around. I can see Philly doing a 'camp twice a year, and no reason not to shoot for two the second time. But first time out, in a busy month, it seemed like one day was a good place to start.

Awesome! Thanks for doing

Basekamp space still available

If you still want to talk about the Basekamp space at 8th & Chestnut, let me know... We have an exhibition of contemporary art there called 'What's Yours Is Mine" - I don't think it will get in the way for what the group would need to do. However we should probably discuss details to be sure everything could work, if this is an interest for anyone.

Space?

FirstPersonArts - Mon, 2008-10-20 17:42

How much space do you need for the planning meeting? How many people will be coming?

Andrew

I would guess that 5-10

I would guess that 5-10 people would be interested in attending a planning meeting but that's just a guess. If we had 20 that would be great.

Please leave a comment on this thread if you'd like to attend the planning meeting.

If you can't attend, we'll keep the planning as open as possible in this group so there will be lots of opportunity to participate.

I'm interested in the planning meeting, but it's a busy week. What days for for everyone? Thurs or Fri evening are best for me.

I can only make Tuesday or Wednesday this week. :(
If we can't get some kind of consensus, maybe we can push to next week.
Anyone else interested?

DrupalCamp Philly - I'm in & and might help

dcmurphy - Wed, 2008-10-22 02:49

I'm new to the group, new to Drupal and looking forward to DrupalCamp. Not sure how useful I'll be at any planning meeting(s), but I'm willing to help in one form or another. Next week is relatively open. Thursday evening is my only option this week.

Let's try next week

I think it's important to get as many people involved in planning as possible, so let's push the meeting to next week. How's Tuesday the 28th, 6:30pm at ZivTech?

That works for me.

Could it be Weds or Thurs?

I hate to say it but since my last post my company obligated me to shoot a commercial on Tuesday (we produce video as well as doing drupal work). Weds or Thurs still work for me and if that doesn't work for you guys feel free to delegate a few things to me at the meeting. I want to help make this happen!

Works for us!
