Client Needed for Drupal Students
I've been teaching Drupal to a few of my friends for several months and they are at a point where they could use a client project to push them forward in real-world Drupaling.
Mt Airy Meetup at Canary was great. Again next month?
How about the week of June 9th? What day?
Please RSVP now for the Mt Airy Meetup at Canary
Please RSVP now for the Mt Airy Meetup at Canary. It's this Thursday at 7 (details below) so the sooner I know how many are coming the better. I need to make sure to have enough places for everyone to sit and clear out the necessary clutter. I estimate we can comfortably fit 8-10 people in here without moving furniture, so I need to know if there will be more than that.
Please rsvp in the comments.

Philly Drupal Meetup : April 17th
Nothing like a little last minute Drupal meetup to keep April interesting! Mason started the discussions around a Mt. Airy meetup, which looks like it's coming together for May. So lets fill the gap with another Old City meetup this week, Thursday the 17th.
Obvious choices are a show-and-tell at IndyHall, or a social at National Mechanics.
Opinions on which people would like to do?
Thanks!
Nate
I'd like to host a drupal meetup in Mt Airy (NW Philly)
Anyone interested in getting together to do a show-and-tell group in NW Philly? I've got space at my company's office where we can fit up to around 10 people, and I think it would be really great to have an informal group where we can go over projects, discoveries, techniques, and issues. It's a cool space on a cool block, easily accessible by Septa or car for those not in the area. And once we're done we go across the street for drinks and food.
Possible dates: Apr 22, 23, or 24, or May 6, 7, or 8. I could also have it on a weekend if there's interest.

Module Question
Hi Drupalers.
Not sure if Drupal groups is intended to ask drupal related questions, so feel free to put me in my place if I'm breaking the rules.
Just wondering if anyone is aware of a module that would tell a registered user, and/or redirect them, to the last page they accessed the last time they were logged in?
This is for a client using the book module as an online course, so it's intended for those who don't complete the course in one sitting -- so when they come back next time they will know where they left off.
Late March/Early April Drupal meetup
Hey,
The next PHP meetup isn't until April 29th - it's going to be an educational event and should be a pretty good one -- the topic is testing, which will become increasingly important to Drupal as well.
But in the meantime we should do a more Drupal-focussed event. In the past there's been requests for more collaborative, educational kinds of meetups. Who's got some ideas?
- 2-3 people doing Show 'n Tell of sites they've done recently
- 1-2 people walking through the code of a module they've built
- skip the planning and do an "un-meetup" and let a few people lead small-group discussions
Anyone else?
Meetup @ National Mechanics
We're planning another social for the month of March -- returning to National Mechanics for some beers and burgers. First of all, a bunch of people will be returning from Drupalcon Boston and will no doubt have interesting things to say about the state and future of Drupal. Secondly, I'd like to further the planning of an April PHP Meetup educational event on the use of tests in PHP -- unit tests, test driven development, etc. We have two potential speakers at this point, might be looking for one additional.
February Meetup at the Nodding Head
Hey all- so it looks like the majority has spoken and we will be meeting up on Wednesday, February 27th, at 7:00PM. The meetup will be held at Nodding Head Brewery, located at 1516 Sansom St. on the 2nd Floor.
Please feel free to pass this on and hope to see you on Wednesday!
P.S. I tried to add this as an event, but the SPAM filter spit back this error:
What night should we have our meetup at the Nodding Head?
Informal Drupal Meetup?
Given that there's no official Drupal meetup this month, is anyone interested in getting together for an informal pre-DrupalCon Drupal meetup? We could just meet for drinks, we could allow people to bring projects they're working on that they need help/advice on, or both/neither. Or, hell, we could just have a Drupal 6 release party.
Anyway, I'm obviously down for a meetup before DrupalCon (I need a drink and am grasping at straws here people!), anyone else?
PHP Security Event
So I wasn't able to muster a Drupal Group event for this month. We were planning a PHP Meetup social, but just found out there's a presentation by the Open Web Application Security Project taking place the same night (Tues Feb 19) at Drexel. The topic is developing and deploying secure PHP apps, so the PHP Meetup kids are going to attend that event. Details are below. All are certainly welcome and I'm sure there will be plenty of info useful to Drupal developers as well. And afterwards we'll head over to Mad Mex for some beer and burritos.
Next month, a number of us are heading to Boston for Drupalcon '08. I thought for a local event towards the end of March we could have some of the folks who went talk about what they learned and what they saw that was cool -- really, just a big roundtable discussion kicked off by some of the sessions and lessons from Drupalcon. Still working on a date and location for that.
Anyway I hope to see some of you at the event on Tuesday the 19th, and I know I'll see some of you in Boston!
Nate.

We all work from home but find frequent opportunities to get out and work face to face with each other. We're heavily involved in the local networking groups, attending and presenting at PANMA, the PHP Meetup, and the Drupal Group.
Which of the following BEST describes your interest in/involvement with Drupal?
Should the Philly Drupal Group keep co-meeting with the Philly PHP group in 2008?
Drupal Show And Tell @ Independents Hall : Nov 27th
We're planning an informal presentation event for November, to be held at Independents Hall (www.indyhall.org) in Old City. We're looking for 3-4 presenters to show something they've done in Drupal, demo their favorite modules, etc. Please let me know if you're interested in presenting!
After the presentations we'll head across the street to National Mechanics for some well-deserved beers and more converstaion.
Open Source Frameworks Presentation : Oct 25
Join us on October 25th for an introduction to Open Source web application frameworks. Next Meeting for Philadelphia Area Group?
I'm looking forward to attending my first Drupal meet-up, couldn't make it last month but I really want to attend the next one. Is there a date/place set for August for the Philadelphia area group?
Thanks,

Inspiration at the Meet Up
I just announced that the Embedded Media Field now supports custom media url's, but I forgot to mention that the idea for that support came from the meet-up last week, specifically in a conversation with jkopel & Jen Simmons. At least one other (whose username I can't find here), and probably others; sorry if I forgot to mention you. I met a lot of cool new people here.
Venues for hosting events
Let's keep a page of places we might be able to hold events:
Educational/Presentation events
This was just a thought I had... our Campus in Langhorne [www.pbu.edu] is about a block or so from the Langhorne Septa station. We have classrooms, conference rooms, lecture halls, a wireless network... (Joshua Benner )
Moved to Harrisburg
I've just moved to Harrisburg, PA. I work as a developer with Advomatic. Recent projects of mine: Views Slideshow, Embedded Media Field, Drupal FTP, and RPG. Some of my personal sites are Drupal RGP, Drupal Hub (demo for Embedded Media Field and Views Slideshow), and Spindowners (an upcoming web-based rpg).
I look forward to being active in this group -- I just moved here last week, so I probably can't come to the meetup on Tuesday, but I will definitely make sure to be present when I can.

PHP/Drupal Meetup June 19
We're back at Gullifty's next week for another summer outdoor PHP/Drupal meetup. Last time was another nice mix of folks -- with some heroically driving from New Jersey; once again, nobody taking advantage of the nearby transit stop :)
Anyway, the menu once again is all things Drupal, PHP, Open Source, and whatever else is on your mind.
We'll also be discussing and planning our first educational/presentation style event in the fall. I already have one victim volunteer willing to present. We'll be looking for more, and also discussing a location, timeframe, and ways to dragging inviting more people.
Please RSVP at http://php.meetup.com/353/ to let us know to look for you!
May 22: Philadelphia Drupal Group / PHP Meetup Mashup

Found a place for the May Drupal Group / PHP Meetup Mashup. Gullifty's in Bryn Mawr -- they have a pretty big outdoor bar area, and assuming the weather holds, it should be a really nice time.
Please RSVP (on the PHP meeup page below, or just with a comment here) to let us know if you can make it -- and please pass this along to anyone else who might be interested.
Thanks,
Nate

Philadelphia Area Drupal/PHP Meetup Mashup
Well, the April PHP meetup drew a nice crowd of 8 people. We were seated at 2 tables of 4 each, and our table basically talked Drupal all night! So it's clear there's some overlap and I'd like to play that up. I'd also like to try to correct the problem of being stuck in one position all night, not being able to mix up conversation. So, I'd like to try to get the PHP Meetup crowd and the Drupal Group crowd together for an evening.

More info: http://php.meetup.com/353/
There's been some Drupal interest there in the past, and it's always good to learn from others doing similar things. Join the group and RSVP if you can make it!

Drupal Dojo Lesson #1 screencast
This is a request from Hens20 (sorry for taking so long man!!) that I think others would find interesting if they already do not know about it. There was a site that had the .swf of the whole screencast for lesson #1 but drupaldojo.com has the entire screencast for you to download. Here is the link to the page:

Scroll all the way to the bottom for the link to lesson #1.

Best Practice for Creating Users with Drupal/CiviCRM?
Hey guys,
I wish I had seen the Philly meetup before today! I've just started playing around with Drupal and CiviCRM, so this is probably a pretty newbie question...my apologies in advance.
Here's the basic use case for what I'm trying to do:
Goal: We're setting up a website to organize grassroots supporters for Barack Obama in Philadelphia. We want a site where interested volunteers can go and sign up. From there, neighborhood leaders can search and find volunteers with the right skill sets to get in touch with for various activities.

Comprehensive Article on Content Construction Kit (CCK)
Since several people expressed interest at our first meeting expressed interest in the Content Construction Kit (CCK), which is an add-on for 4.7 and built-in to 5.x, I wanted to highlight this article just posted at Lullabot:
What is the Content Construction Kit? A View from the Database (March 7)
Feel free to use this space to ask questions about CCK, talk about features, provide examples, or talk about the article.
