I am looking to switch my hosting service and would like to ask the group what they are using to host their drupal sites?

Hosting Drupal Sites

I actually use a number of hosts (SEO Reasons).

My complex Websites with lots of DB accesses are hosted on VPS.net. Overall, this has worked best for me. I am famiiar with Linux and like to operate on the command line. It can be a bit of an admin headache when all you really want to do is build websites.

My simple sites where pretty much it's a Blog or a few web pages, I host on Hostgator, JustHost, Hostmonster, GoDaddy, 1on1 and DreamHost. [Several of these are simply the client's default and I can't get them to move].

I'm testing hotdrupal.com and it's looking pretty good. The guy optimizes for Drupal and I think the price is reasonable. He takes care of some of the management/admin issues that I don't like on VPS.net. If it works out, I may switch a lot of the complex stuff here.

I'm currently looking into Pantheon and thinking about using AWS.

Hostgator, JustHost and the like seem to have database connection issues when I put a lot of stuff into CCK and use views. In fact, a lot of the time, the admin page has been known to choke and I have to refresh multiple times. With anonymous caching, they seem to do fine for the website itself. Guess that's what I should expect for hosting in the $5 a month for a million sites range.

Hi Bob,

Low bandwidth sites: Hostmonster, ANHosting and Hurricane Electric.
High bandwidth: Webenabled.com's VPS servers.

Good luck!

Network Redux

I've hosted all of my client sites on various platforms and I have to say that my VPS at Network Redux has been amazing. I won't ever leave unless something really changes in how they do business. I have about 40 sites hosted right now, everything from old static Dreamweaver sites to fairly complex Drupal sites, and I just don't have any problems or downtime. I pay $59 per month to host everything. Their support is fast and pretty knowledgeable, and they even gave my smartypants developer SSH access when we asked. They've answered silly email questions from my clients at times, too. :) I've been there about 2 years now and have moved everything - even old client sites I inherited that were hosted at GoDaddy (shiver) and such ... totally worth the time as I have one place to manage everything with a master login, which is a huge time saver for me. :)

My hosting for Drupal

BobanZ's picture

Hello, I used to have Bluehost (http://webhostingw.com/go/bluehost) hosting to host my Drupal site. Their servers were quite rapid, the software installed on the server was the latest and the tech support always did their best to fix the hosting issues which sometimes appeared.
