This is a community sprint to finish up the SCBA site we started - all are welcome!

Last year we had a barnraising event to create a site for a local non-profit. We had a good time and got a lot of work done... but there is a little work left to complete the site.

Our "client" has arranged a space for us to use: map.

street view- so cool

The site is very close to done, there are a few features that still need to be implemented and some theming tweaks as well as some content creation and testing. I have an issue queue all set up so we can break up into teams, check-out issues and fix/do them.

We now have a date

December 7th 10am -4pm

Also, you can create an account at seadug.org and view the project by selecting it from the list.

Thanks!

I can make either date.

I can make either date.

Either date

Me too - either date is OK with me, though I'd have a slight preference for a Saturday over a Sunday.

checking on Sat availability

I just put in a request to check on saturday availability- I will post when I get an answer.

Either works for me

Being new to drupal, I'm probably not that helpful, but I'd love to be there and see how everything is put together. Either date works for me, though I do have something on sunday that is at 12:00 - 1ish so if it's in the middle of the day I'd probably have to duck out for a bit ...

Available for backend assistance

Prefer the 7th, but can probably make either date. I'll be there for backend support and to gather some theming tips.

we have a date

This Sunday at the location in the original post. Looking forward to doing some work as a group on the site. I think it might be helpful to assign a couple issues to people before the actual event so that we can get right to it on Sunday, so if you are planning on coming and want to chip in some skills please comment and we can get some things setup. Some things that are on the list:

  • custom theming a content type (class) to display like this
  • tweaking alist view- adding content in template.php
  • tweak navigation to reflect current location
  • adjust and create some views
  • drink some coffee and hang out...

hopefully we can hand off the site after our sprint to let the book artists add some content and do some testing so that they can get this site live.

if anyone coming wants to bring a video camera maybe we could do a quick video and use it in a write up of the project when we are all done...

if anyone coming could bring a projector it would be easier to watch what people are doing as they work on the site.

thanks!

can probably assist with some of these

They seem like things I have done before.
Particularly the drinking of coffee.

Are we using D5 or 6?

Web developer @ tableau

d5... for now

RockSoup's picture

the site is in d5 now, but I am going to grab an acquia distro tonight and see if I can't get it updated to 6. If I can't I would like to add that to the bottom of our list.

-jared

Don't think that will work well...

jhodgdon's picture

All kinds of things are different in modules and themes for D6 as opposed to D5. Good luck trying to update to D6! I don't think it will be an easy process. Probably best to stick with D5 if you want to get the site finished this weekend.

yeah, I figured...

but I thought I would play with it in my sandbox and see what happens. Upgrading would only be something I see us doing if we close all the issues. It could happen though since I think all the people signed up are so smart :) so I figured I needed something else to keep us busy if we blow through the queue...

Cool ...

Aside from the drinking coffee and hanging out I would probably need some direction from experienced drupal folks to be helpful ... I can do front end or back end development. Oh and I'll be there some time after 1pm.

tomorrow morning

RockSoup's picture

we will be working on the book arts site in the morning.

I will be at the space at 10am.

We are going to be in the board room.

Apparently they have wired internet access, and I will bring a wireless router.

Looking forward to hacking on this with you all.

see you tomorrow,
