Proposed presentation on key modules
I would be happy to give a presentation, "Drupal 6 Modules for Every Website". It would be a fast-paced overview of the 30 contrib modules that I have found to be valuable -- and sometimes essential -- for every Drupal 6 site that I build. I now use all of them as part of a base distribution, which serves as a starting point for any new site.
I realize that Drupal 7 is the future, and should be sufficient for simple sites, but I'm finding that all of my new client sites still necessitate the use of Drupal 6 (typically because some key contrib module is not yet stable or even available for Drupal 7). Based upon what I hear in IRC channels and podcasts, it seems most Drupal developers are in the same boat.
Two limitations, however: I would need to be the first presenter, because I can't stay to the end of the meeting, given the distance of the meeting place from my home. Secondly, I don't have an available laptop, so if someone will be bringing a laptop that they could hook up to the meeting display, then I could bring my presentation on a flash drive. There won't be a need to run Drupal or modify code as part of the presentation; a series of slides will be sufficient.
It would be at a beginner to intermediate level, with no coding abilities needed. Before the end of the following day, I promise to make the presentation available as an article online. I would post the link in this thread.
If members could comment below as to whether this topic is of interest, that would be helpful, so I have time to start putting it together. Thanks.

It's possible that I'll be in town for this. Would anyone like to see a presentation on Virtualmin? Here's a description from an earlier version of this presentation at DrupalCamp LA:
Do you know yet if you will be there?
And if so, are you still planning on presenting on Virtualmin?
Enquiring minds...and all that rot.
Yes, LVDUG is a go! Do you
Yes, LVDUG is a go!
Do you have a preferred length for presentations? Let me know and I'll update my slides accordingly.
The target length is 30
The target length is 30 minutes, and we try to have a beginning and a more advanced presentation. It doesn't always work out, but that way people who need to take off sooner can do so and not miss out. People who want to can stay later and talk (or do) more in depth about what ever.
Webmin and Virtualmin
I'd be quite interested, especially now that I have more clients each with multiple businesses/web sites, and I'm looking for ways to consolidate them and simplify the burden of managing them, including database backups.
I have no knowledge of the
I have no knowledge of the module, but it sounds interesting. I vote yes.

It's not a module
It's a tool "for managing multiple virtual hosts through a single interface, like Plesk or Cpanel."

I'm Alive
I just wanted to chime in and say hello, and let everyone know that I am still alive lol. I have just been terribly busy. I am going to try to make it on Friday, hopefully I will see everyone there.

Proposed presentation on key modules
Last month, in a post above, I requested group members to indicate whether they would be interested in the presentation I had proposed. There has been one response (thank you, Tim), but no others, so I assume that there is not sufficient interest for the presentation for this Friday meeting. If later there is member interest for the presentation for a later meeting, then I would be happy to give it.
On a related note, does anyone know if there is a way for us to create polls on this Drupal Groups site? That may be the best way to solicit interest in proposed presentations and topics.
Can you keep it handy?
Michael,
I don't yet know for sure if Christo will be in Las Vegas and able to present on Virtualmin or not, so I would appreciate it you could at least be ready, just in case. What you proposed has great value, especially for those of us who do not explore the module list very often. I usually learn about or learn more about at least a few modules when ever i see a similar presentation.
In regards to your follow on question, there is a "Create Poll" item in the "Las Vegas" block on the right. The address is http://groups.drupal.org/node/add/poll?gids[]=810. Let me know if you don't see it.
Backup presentation
Jason, thanks for the info concerning the poll creation. I had tried that way back when I first created a d.o account, and was not able to create any polls. But now it appears to be allowing it. Perhaps this is a result of the changes they made not too long ago to the backend of d.o, or maybe one has to be associated with a group. Polls could be a handy way for us to get feedback on proposed presentation ideas.
Yes, I can keep my D6 modules presentation ready, although it won't be polished, because up until this morning I didn't think it was going to be given. As mentioned earlier, I will put it on a USB thumb drive, and would appreciate if some kind soul could allow me to run the presentation off their laptop (it will be images and HTML only -- no executables). Thanks!
Michael
co-development on github is now ready!!
I know I've been talking about doing this for a while, and it has now become a reality! We are now all set up for taking code contributions on http://dug.lv via github. Check it out: http://bit.ly/duglv
So, drop me a line to get involved and I will add you to everything as quickly as possible. I will also be adding access to current db dumps via backup_migrate for site editors on http://dug.lv
Have a great meetup tonight. I will not be able to make it again, but hope to some time in the future. Let's make our site awesome!
Cheers.
Out of date
I think the first thing I'm going to be committing back is an update to 7.8. :^)

A client emergency has just come up and I won't be able to attend.
I was really looking forward to the meetup tonight. I'll see what I can do about attending in the near future.
No problem
Stuff like that happens, and we all just go with the flow. :^) Thanks for the offer.

Unfortunately, I am also not going to be able to make it either. I apologize, and I hope I can make the next one. My attendance rate has been really horrible lately :-/

Article link
For all those who managed to stay awake during my presentation yesterday evening, thank you for attending. As promised, here is the link to the full article: http://www.ross.ws/content/drupal-6-modules-every-website.
Most of the articles and book reviews that I've been writing lately pertain to Drupal, so feel free to sign up for the RSS newsfeed on my site. During the months ahead, I will definitely be posting more Drupal content.
