This is our third meeting. We'll meet again in #drupal-crm and then head over the skype. We'll try and start on time and end fairly sharply on time. Its just a status update and so we should be able to get these meetings even shorter.

For people getting this by e-mail. Its at 3pm GMT on the 7th of October. (Every other Friday). Afterwards I'll write up the notes here.

Hey guys,

I'm going to be out camping tomorrow, and won't be able to make the meeting. Here's my update:

PAST TWO WEEKS
* On the last call, we agreed to make a place for user stories. I have created a new CRM group to house these.
* On the new group, I posted a call for user stories. I posted some of the existing user-story-ey posts into that group, but we need a few more to model what we're looking for.
* I want to make sure that the CRM-API process eliminates hurdles and doesn't just create needless/additional work. I began to write the CRM API team charter to capture scope, goals, and participants. This will hopefully help developers stay in touch and will also provide outsiders with a quick glimpse into where things stand.

NEXT TWO WEEKS
* Please have a look at the team charter and disuss/note anything that's missing, incomplete, or over-steppy. I'd like to make sure we've got consensus around the roles and process for this system of meetings and identify what we're seeking to solve (And not solve) by establishing this group. Let's discuss and finalize!
* We could use some help modeling
* I would like to come up with some common terminology and/or classifications so that we know when we're talking about the same things. Better yet, I hope to nail some of these down as group vocabularies on GDO. That way we can group requirements/solutions/discussions by technical category (e.g. import/export, activities, relationships, etc.) and/or by audience (Non profit, church, B2B, and so-on.). The goal is to wrangle some of the discussions on GDO so it's clear where people can jump in, and that one person doesn't use their own lens to shut down a conversation that's not germane to their own goals. I'll post more on this later.
* I also have some technical input that I would like to contribute beyond setting up this here collaboration process. I hope to post at least some of my thoughts before the next meeting on the 21st.

Also, the entire Advantage Labs team is planning on attending BADCamp and the preceding Non-Profit Summit. Anyone else going? Hope to connect!

So that's my update, feel free to paste it into this week's notes.

Thanks everyone and catch you online!

Fairly Quick meeting this

Fairly Quick meeting this time

We discussed the charter. People seemed pretty happy with it but also wanted to keep the ability discuss tech stuff (best practises) at the end of meetings.

Kyle: Work is going ahead with the CRM, activities are going well and they are bringing in a designer. They are planning to release code soon and create a project page.

Rob and Joachim: Had a flurry of activity about parties:

Talked about the party label and making it pluggable (Link) http://drupal.org/node/1299914
Putting views into a party:
Data Sets and Party Pieces: http://drupal.org/node/1301852

Next thing is looking at: "hats" looking at access roles so we can find out who can do what.

Jamie: Talked about Redhen CRM and sean, they seem quite interested to be involved at least with our meetings. I will be speaking to sean next week and we'll see how things go from there.

We talked about the possibility of converging and how we feel that over the next month or so it looks like we're getting a better picture of a Drupal CRM but we're not there yet.

After the meeting I had skype call with David Conner as he arrived just after the meeting finished. Summary:

  • He discussed how he wanted to get involved and he had reservations of getting involved in "party" because he thought it would tie contacts to users. We talked a bit more about it and what a profiles2 approach entails and he wants to get involved.
  • He reiterated that he is involved in business to business CRM and so normally (but not always) contacts will not be related to a user.
  • He disscussed his reservations about getting involved in the sandbox. He made it clear that as he is investing money into this he would like to be able to make money from it. I talked to him about how that fits quite nicely within the crm-api charter and what we're doing
  • He talked about how he David Conner (Captaindav) and a programmer called jerodfritz want to get involved in the party module. I spoke to him about how we are in #drupal-crm and how rlmumford and I can get him up to speed on the code.
  • rlmumford has started focusing on better documentation and comments and a "get involved" tag in the issue queue to help other developers.

TODO: Update the "State of CRM" - "Update the Charter to

CRM API
