I am jotting some notes and points raised in the meeting today. The detailed meeting minutes are attached at: http://www.scribd.com/doc/68117431

The question we wanted everyone to answer was “which target audience will the event cater to?”. Being on the same page was important for us to progress on the conversation. The proposed audience was described as:
- Drupal Engineers who want to learn more, share and network
- Software Engineers who want to explore Drupal, know about opportunities, and adopt Drupal.
- Entrepreneurs and start-ups evaluating Drupal for their ideas
- Technology Entrepreneurs and firms keen on offering Drupal professional services
- Development firms offering a Drupal practice and seeking opportunities to
- Learn advanced concepts and know of best practices
- Network with liked minded firms, enthusiasts and talent
- Share knowledge and demonstrate competence
- Industry and Businesses seeking to adopt Drupal based solutions
- Industry and Business seeking Drupal talent
- Students familiar with Drupal, and keen on learning more about it
- Students seeking mentors in the Drupal space
- Researchers seeking to adopt Drupal as a platform for their work

Examples included showing novice users learn how to find which module is the right one to use, how to work with installer profiles, what are the best modules for a specific problem statement (two modules may do the same thing, yet may be relevantly applicable in different scenarios). It was agreed that all this should come from experience sharing. Showcasing distros like OpenPublish, OpenScholar, COD etc.

It was also discussed the proposed event should create a platform for:
- Helping software engineers and students have confidence in the framework, its community and opportunities. And, that the event should no just be a series of training sessions, but an occasion to foster, Community, Partnerships, Innovation, Present the industry to students
- Promote potential internships
- Showcase new opportunities among the few.

It was discussed that while one day may not be enough, we need to touch upon most of these holistically, and perhaps extend the event to the second day if possible. The group then spoke about not looking at the event as a one off occurrence, but to plan interventions before and after as well.

It was agreed that we will map down engagement in three broad phases:
- Pre-Camp
- DrupamCampDeccan
- Post-Camp

Pre-Camp initiatives will aim to filter and raise the bar for the quality of conversations at the Camp as well. It was agreed that we will plan this intervention with different stakeholders with an activity tailored for them.

  • Students & Novices: Hello Drupal! sessions in various colleges to create awareness. We will be sensitive to student academic schedule.

  • Young Professionals/Organisations: Invite speakers or a panel to talk on one or two occasions about a 'Real World Challenges' in their domains, and have experienced Drupal developers advocate to them on how Drupal can be used to solve these challenges.

  • Businesses: Have talks at professional events on adopting of Drupal in their work environments for knowledge management, document sharing, enabling productivity etc.

We agreed to plan these interventions at a regular interval in various cities of South India. Webinars are also intended if possible, to amplify efforts.

DrupalCampDeccan:
- The proposed agenda is based on earlier notes and includes two parts to it.
- The structured part will include:
- The keynote to kick-off the event
- Introductory to Moderate level training sessions
- Advanced Level training sessions

The unstructured part will include:
- Space for BoFs: The key is to make these aspirational by touching upon topics such as: The Semantic Web, Text to Speech, Drupal & Voice, Drupal & Pedagogy, Drupal & GIS, Drupal & Mobile, Drupal & the Cloud etc, Drupal & Advocacy, Drupal & Governance etc.
- Presentations from those who had problem statements and solutions suggested
- Impromptu networking
- Case Study Presentations
Examples: Drupal in Education, Drupal in NPOs, Drupal in Government etc.

The agenda will be mapped and evolved with inputs and new proposals during the next few days, based on possibilities.

Check out our first meeting photos

PS: I suggest we have these notes and minutes documented on drupalcampdeccan.in site as well to maintain ease of access.

Hi, Can you please also add action items for
1. Coordinate with local authorities about the event, Submit a formal letters etc
2. Have a team that can go around and find some bargains (Food coupons, discounted stay) etc etc

When it was decided by Drupal Hyderabad members on Saturday that the meeting is postponed to Sunday, How can someone finalize a draft on Saturday. I am clueless of how this thing was pulled off.

Collaboration?

sarathms's picture

Appreciate the efforts put in by people who met on Saturday.

But its sad that we are seeing lesser collaboration than before. It would have been great if the Drupal Hyderabad group behind this community was also part of this meet.
The last minute change in venue was not appropriate when it was earlier agreed upon by all that we'll have the meet at Gachibowli. The team had also planned "Hello Drupal" for novices which was attended by a lot of people. It wouldn't have been practical to move all these people to a new venue. I don't think the existing team and its work so far needs to be undermined this way. The way we are all working is certainly not in the interest of the community.

Anyway, its not gone too far. I suggest we work together to make the event a success. I am sure the community will only grow stronger that way.

Cheers,

Not many Drupal Hyderabad Core People in the draft?

srujankumar88's picture
I 've been physically and virtually taking part in Drupal Hyderabad meetings and events for last 2 years. It is a really good team with lots of enthu, who worked really hard towards taking drupal to the students in engineering colleges and community as a whole, who always had most interactive meetings sharing everyone's opinions and proceeding forward. But this draft doesn't include many of those core Drupal Hyderabad people, who contributed a lot in spreading the awareness and usage of drupal in and around hyderabad. I also see that the draft is finalized without much deliberations, which is absolutely a bad sign, As we are doing a community event, we should never be one sided in organizing such events. So, I would suggest you people to meet once again face to face including all the Drupal enthusiats in and around hyderabad and settle down things taking inputs from all the participants.

Lets hope for a successful DrupalCamp Event.

I too see that there is

hari krishna malyala's picture

I too see that there is conspiracy going on to undermine Drupal Hyderabad community. Why are the Drupal Hyderabad members who have been active for last 2 years being excluded in the decision making process? It is clearly against the community interests and really undermines the goals on which Drupal Hyderabad has been operating until now.

Thanks,

Drupal Hyderabad community sabotaged

sandeepbillakanti's picture

I see a lot of duplicate content, efforts being put in organizing this event.

When we already have a official Drupal Hyderabad Facebook group(https://www.facebook.com/groups/drupalhyderabad/) why another was created here https://www.facebook.com/pages/DrupalHyd/241614012554488 .

Why are meeting minutes (http://groups.drupal.org/node/181804) being posted in a different discussion with no connection the actual event page(http://groups.drupal.org/node/181554)? Why is so many redundant posts about events are made? And really why the proposed organizer names uploaded on scribd with no download option & completely protected for not sharing? The names should have been posted on the hyderabad groups page and not locked in a flash based doc sharing service with all disabled options. And for what reason are Ipsita, hari, medhamsh, sarath, aruna, siva, srujan who were so much active for last 2 years in Drupal Hyderabad excluded in the minutes?

Who are the people who are co-ordinating from Bangalore & chennai? Why are Shyamala, anil614sagar who are active in those regions being excluded even from the discussion? How democratically the Deccan region is been included in this event? We want names.

Where are the previous companies who had been associated with Drupal Hyderabad camp in 2010? Where is prokarma, Melity, Srijan & V-empower? When they sponsored the 2010 event were they not interested to join the meeting? Did anybody even officially invite them before kicking off the event?

Also lot of decisions are being put just before some hours of the event (http://groups.drupal.org/node/181554 - before 17 hours)

This particular post http://groups.drupal.org/node/181464 (having 20 odd comments) requests for relocation meeting location from gachibowli to La Makaan, but actually this post http://groups.drupal.org/node/181554 has La Makaan as the venue. Where did Gachibowli come into the scene? In which post was it mentioned that Gachibowli was the venue for the kick-off meeting?

And somebody please explain why that before a website for the event was finalized (http://www.drupalcampdeccan.in/) it was not communicated to anyone? Does Drupal Hyderabad own the rights on the domain? Was it even proposed in any of the meeting minutes in this group?

Whatever intentionally is being done to sabotage the Drupal Hyderabad community is not accepted. People who are leading the confusion should take care that they are breaking the group and not making it. If a draft can be finalized by 20 people who decided to meet over a midnight for a major event in view of Dries visit, i can see how undemocratically things are moving and the members who are supporting those people i see as the virus which has infected the Drupal Hyderabad community.

Let good sense prevail

Sumeet.Pareek's picture

Disclaimer: I am not associated with any of you working on Drupal out of Hyderabad. Am just plain audience of this thread.

Folks.

I am attending the Drupal Camp at Mumbai and actively participating with others in the community to make the Mumbai event awesome and useful for all. Things are taking good shape there and we are hoping it would be an interesting community event at the end of day.

It is seriously quite sad to see from outside whatever trust issues you folks are having organizing the camp in Hyderabad.

Please, call each other up.. show up on IRC at #drupal-in (all mumbai and rest of India folks were hanging out there all day).. talk to each other and sort things out quick.

I really hope good sense prevails and we see a hat trick of super awesome Drupal Camps at Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad.

surendramohan's picture

Guys,

Unfortunately, there are internal problems in Mumbai organizing group as well like:
1. Predefined leads as organizers
2. Lack of communication (this is most horrible - not sure how those predefined leads communicate among themselves but people wont discuss anything on IRC instead they share few decisions there) - I recieved these problems reported to me from many drupallers around here.
3. Lack of community involvement - they say that they need volunteers but when people are ready to support they never give them chance to provide their opinions
4. People who work for the event are shown to the community via names of Leads ...

If we go on listing there would be many problems here.

But folks, lets take things in positive way & look the event as Drupal on the whole.

Mistakes happen - but try to find solutions to those as well.
Instead of pointing problems lets try to collaborate & drive these successful events.

I cant believe I am replying

Sumeet.Pareek's picture

I cant believe I am replying to this comment here. Spending my time addressing false concerns when there is tons on real useful stuff to do.

Perhaps I will do so one last time so that anybody out there who wants to contribute and has complains about not being able to do so, can actually contribute.

(1)

Predefined leads? There are no leads whatsoever. There was various things about the event that needs to be taken care of (venue, site, schedule, promotions, food/beverages, etc.). Those interested in helping came forward, raised their hands, took ownership of somethings that needs to be done. And things are underway already.

So say if somebody thought he could help with the venue, he could simply say so on the forums or IRC. Say how exactly he could help. And immediately he would know that it is Pavithra who has hooked up with IIT to use their facilities for the venue. And then they could start working with her. She is the one who is already following up with IIT for everything concerning getting the venue ready. Making sure everything required for a successful meetup is arranged for etc. In fact she could use a lot of help from others how are willing to do things. But those who only want to express opinions are a distraction that none can afford now.

Same if true for other things, I, Amit Vyas, Basant, YD and Sid came forward to help with site design and building and started taking action. Dipen, Mukesh, Gaurav and others came forward with helping with the sessions and started taking action. Sid, Rina, Sunit Gala and others came forward to help with sponsors and promotion and started taking action. I came forward with the Idea of regular contributions to drupal starting now, but am yet to take action on it for want of time. Others are welcome to do so, so that I can join the effort soon.

Anybody is welcome to join the efforts that are already underway, by coming forward to share their opinions and ideas and to do work, not to just throw ideas, question effort, kill time and disappear.

(2)

Tons of communication is happening all over. In fact a little too much than that should be required.

(3)

What do you mean by ready to support? Refer #1 to see how people are already supporting. This is a community event, nobody has to ask for a chance. You just start working if you really wish to do so. And everybody is more than welcome for it.

(4)

I do not even understand what that meant.

Why dont you propose a session on the site? Take up a few bugs and start fixing them? Find a few modules to port from D6 to D7.. now.. and for the code sprint? Why not get in touch with folks who have already started making effort and working (they aren't leads.. they are simply those who are working..) and approach the communications firm for internet sponsorship at the venue etc.?

Folks :) humble request on

venky.drupal's picture

Folks :)

humble request on behalf of Hyderabad folk, please take this conversation off this thread. It is not relevant to this thread, and right now, everyone here is collaborating together on various areas, focused on execution and delivery to make the event a success. The last thing we need is for this to be a hot topic for discussions about Mumbai :-/ . Better still, everyone of us should focus on a making every one of the three events a great opportunity to foster our community.

love, peace & Drupal,

Drupal as a whole

Sree's picture

Folks,

I dont say that Mumbai group is perfect but, it is just that people are not reporting their problems openly like this.

I heard (&also personally experienced) quiet many complaints from many drupallers regarding DruppalCamp Mumbai as well like predefined leads who are never even seen on IRCs (except Dipen, sometimes pavithra, wikidkaka etc), lack of communication - community members are never informed about what is happening behind the scenes etc.

But, we shouldnt forget that at the end of the day we are representing as drupallers from India as a whole - so instead of investing time by pointing out various issues lets move ahead with whatever we can do to give a grand welcome to Dries to our country.

Sree

Refer my comment above to the

Sumeet.Pareek's picture

Refer my comment above to the idea of 'predefined leads'. I cant understand why people get that idea.

Who would appoint a "lead"?
Nobody.

Who qualifies to be a "lead"?
There are no leads.
There are just people who have stared working for certain aspects of the event.
Anybody could start an effort too or join one that is started.

Who are they "leading"?
Nobody. Those who are working are only making double the effort themselves.

About communication, those working are already talking to those others who are working. You cannot communicate every single thing you do on the forums here or on IRC.

I am working to get the videographers arranged so that every session can be recorded. I really cannot update every single phone call that I make and mail that I send over here. If I need help I will ask somebody who can. If somebody who can help with videography comes forward, I will jump to the opportunity and start working with him, helping each other out. If I (we?) have it all arranged, we will make a merry announcement to the community.

If you want me to update every piece of work that I am doing here, so that others can express their opinion. I am sorry it just does not work that way.

BIG PLUS for what you have said towards the end of your comment :-)

ONE team ....

Sree's picture

Guys,

Concept of Leads do exist in Mumbai community & I personally had a bad experience about this (http://groups.drupal.org/node/179974) but, lets try to move ahead with what ever we have as ONE team rather than just investing our time in arguing further about this.

There are problems & everyone should agree to it - gaps are definitely there, we should try to fill those rather than just talking / masking about those gaps.

Cheers,

Sree

Clarifications...

venky.drupal's picture

:)

I think it's important that we view events in a positive frame of mind, and not make accusations. I would like to address a few doubts, questions raised.

@Medhamsh: Please refer to the thread on http://groups.drupal.org/node/181464 .

There was a sincere proposal from various quarters in the Drupal community to have a meeting in a place that was central to the city, so that it is inclusive.

There was a meeting that happened at La Makaan on Saturday. And, it was attended by real people active with Drupal since the last 5 years.

There was an open invitation extended to everyone who have been active with Drupal to take part in the conversation. The request to have this in a central location was for practical purposes. And, there were members who are part of the Drupal Hyderabad core group also present there. Amongst the participants were Asif, Ratnamala, Prajwala & Sai Tanay who also are the core team members of Drupal Hyderabad, who have been advocating Drupal in colleges in the region.

What was presented as minutes was an output of that meeting. And, it was a very productive kick-off, an kudos to everyone who came over to make it happen.

I sincerely request you to see the minutes, and team up to make the event a success.

@Sarathms: Half the core team of Drupal Hyderabad was at the event at La Makaan on Saturday. In fact, Asif and Sai Tanay went the additional distance all the way to Gachibowli on Saturday as well, and also Major Bharat Cingireddy, who though is not a developer, but an active advocate of Drupal in Hyderabad went over. Please read this article in The Hindu http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-features/tp-metroplus/article108... to know what he has been doing in terms of Drupal Advocacy in the region.

So....yes, the Drupal Hyderabad group members are an inclusive part of this effort. And, the most amazing part of this is that many Drupal folk who have been active advocates of the same for the last 5 to 6 years were also present at the event.

@ Sandeepbillakanti: Let me assure you that your fears are unfounded. Allow me to answer your concerns. There is a difference between 'Groups' and 'Pages' in facebook. You 'JOIN' groups, and you 'LIKE' pages!

There is no duplication here :) The purpose for a 'page' is NOT to create any conversation. Conversations on Drupal happen here on g.d.o. Social conversations around local happenings on Drupal happen on the 'FB Group'. Things are still the same. A 'page' makes no difference.

Minutes were possibly updated on a new thread to start a positive conversation on feeback on the same. And, I think it's okay that to condense the post a doc was attached to be viewed at Scribd. What is the issue there?

The minutes have been posted for feedback, and pictures are being shared as well to encourage more people to participate.

All companies associated with Drupal are coming on board on by one. Srijan has taken the initiative to drive things in Delhi, and they have been engaging with the community there to make things happen.

Myself, I am one of the co-founders of Azri Solutions, and have been an active advocate of Drupal since the last 6 years. That doesn't mean I only go to colleges and train students. I spent most of my time advocating Drupal to educational institutions, companies, Non-profits and design solutions on Drupal. I have been working with a large Drupal team of amazing individuals and we have been working with contributions, participation etc. I am not sure if you chose to leave out my company's name in your list, but we also sponsored the 2010 event, and trained at the same.

Who is Karthik? He is a Drupal developer and Drupal trainer who has travelled across the country and trained at various Drupal events and co-founder of 84 Ideas. His company has been working with Drupal for the last 5 years. And, you will also see his participation at Drupal Camps in India in 2008, Gandhinagar and 2009, Pune. He also leads a team that has done some amazing work in Drupal. It is not gentlemanly to point fingers at folk without knowing their involvement in the community.

Guru & Ramesh: From Harvest-Soft, who have been working with PHP and Drupal for many years now.

Now, do you really want me to list out everyone's biography and experience with Drupal for you?

Yes, over the next few days, many others will be join us from different firms. Those who responded to the invitation to the Saturday event were there. Now, with regards to the rest of us in the corporate sector, we will be reaching out.

The event at La Makaan was an open invitation for EVERYONE. The minutes were NOT drafted by a bunch of people locked in a room, claiming they alone should have the right to think and decide. Everyone who came there participated in the conversation. So, please don't aim your arrows at the messenger who took the initiative to compile and communicate the aspirations of those who assemble.

The event was an open occasion for folk to leave behind their personal organisational agendas and come together to talk about what is the best thing to do. That is what we did

This is NOT a Hyderabad event. This is an event for and by folk in South India. The folk in Hyderabad just took the first step. And, as a pan south India effort, the attendees shared their notes with everyone, and also initiate contact with folk in Chennai & Bangalore and other southern cities. Please go see the threads in Chennai and Bangalore communities. There already are conversations with Drupal folk in those communities. And, we are engaging and inviting people to join in. Yes, Shyamala & Anil614sagar are also involved. Go see the forums where there have been conversations initiated with them. We also had a call today

Why only south India? Because there are some amazing events also planned in Delhi an Mumbai. We all decided to make it a good one for the folk in south an nearby regions from a practical convenience perspective.

Hence, the website drupalcampdeccan.in. It is a reference to 'Dakshin'. I booked the domain name, in the interest of saving time for all of us. Drupal is the trademark of Dries, and no one has any right on any domain name. You may have DrupalHyderabad.com, someone might have HyderabadDrupal.com. That is NOT the point. We need a place where communication can be put out. That is is all.

There are more people joining in from various cities. And, drupalcampdeccan.in is where information will be.

And, let me also add that I believe IIIT Hyderabad is a great place for this event to take place at, to showcase a deemed university in our city. And, I went to the university, spoke to the leadership there an confirmed the event. We also communicated the same to Acquia.

It was important that we confirm a venue, a real reputed destination to showcase. Now, will you question that as well?

Should I be shot for my initiative?

I can go on. Yes, there were folk new to Drupal, but experienced with managing amazing events also at the meeting. IEEE has India's largest network on engineering students and young practicing professionals, including many Drupal developers!

Now, in the interest of growing the community, it is important to be inclusive. No need for command and control. Invite people, leverage their capabilities and grow the community. That is the priority. Not creating committees and demarcating illusionary boundaries an excluding the larger community.

I am not even asking you to list your experience with Drupal here. If you care, please volunteer with everyone in making this event a success instead of picking on people who are doing things.

As for me, my partners any our team at Azri, we have been actively in contact with Acquia and Dries' team for quite some time now pitching Hyderabad as a destination. And, I am thankful to everyone in the community who have come forward to take the leadership in making this event a success.

Please join the ones striving to make a difference! Do not doubt their intentions and integrity.

Please focus on feedback to the minutes. Please focus on teaming up. The ball is rolling. People are already on to various tasks. Contact folk from Drupal Hyderabad as well, like Prajwala, Asif, Ratnamala, Sai Tanay, Ipsita and many of us to know more.

on behalf of Drupal folk in Hyderabad,

Venky :)

The discussions in this

Sumeet.Pareek's picture

The discussions in this thread had got my attention. Rather worried attention actually. But everything you have said now, clears up the air for (at least?) me.

All the best with making Drupal Camp Deccan rock!!

Do hand out at #drupal-in on the IRC. There were cool discussions we had there today.

I believe all 3 cities would love to share notes with each other :-)

Good words make lies look good & productive

hari krishna malyala's picture

First of all the so called sincere proposal came 24 hours before the meeting & was called in the middle of a holiday season(Dusshera) where most of the committee members were outside the City. That is when it was internally proposed that some members who are not present in city will connect through IRC/Google hangout. Invites were sent to Shyamala, anilsagar & subhranshu who represented other states were waiting online for meeting to start. The whole stage was set when in the middle of night some unknown people started popping up and called for a adhoc meeting and finalized Lamakaan. Active members like Ipsita, hari, medhamsh, sarath, aruna, srujan & myself were not even given chance to post our opinion. At last we heard that meeting was cancelled and postponed for sunday.

The MoM from Lamakaan was a shock for me as how can a adhoc meeting pull out a draft with even names of organizers & roles.

Second thing, whatever is projected here http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-features/tp-metroplus/article108... also doesn't mention anyone from Ipsita, hari, medhamsh, sarath, aruna, srujan, siva & myself. But deliberately "Drupal Hyderabad" was used to brand the event.

I am unable to understand what is being proved? Whether Drupal Hyderabad camp 2010 organizers were incompetent enough even to be included in the meeting? What was the need to take adhoc decision on a crucial important meeting? Why were anilsagar, shyamala & subhranshu didn't participate over google hangout/IRC even when invitations were sent to them and also confirmation was received from all.

This deliberate efforts are clearly targeted to undermine what Drupal Hyderabad has been leading for 2 years. It's shame to take sides of people who are not co-operating to join Skype/IRC/Google hangout for discussing before finalizing things and use g.d.o forum for blatantly posting meaningless posts. I hope they even know that IRC exists :P

I was there in meeting at La

pflame's picture

I was there in meeting at La Makaan. Every point mentioned in the MOM is discussed in the meeting.

If we care Drupal and respect Drupal Community, we should understand the importance of Dries visit to Hyderabad. All together we need to make this event successful. Let's support the people who are running the things towards success.

Instead of focusing on what is missed, let's focus on what is good from MOM of La Makaan and let's give our support to prove our enthusiasm towards Drupal Community.

Hello Hari, First of all I

asifnoor's picture

Hello Hari,

First of all I would like to let you know that whichever meeting you are supporting is also planned in adhoc manner and without consulting any of the drupal hyd members. So lets not discuss the way on how the meetings are being called for.

Anilsagar, syamala are already in touch with the community and have agreed to lead the drupal camp deccan in their own states. So please do not bring into all this unnecessarily. They don't have any problem with the present community.

I don't think there is anyone proving anything here. As a community let us collaborate and work together. If you are interested in any of the activities, please express your interest with the community and take leadership there. No one is stopping nor anyone has mentioned anywhere that the people/roles and responsibilities are finalized. All of those people whose names are present there have expressed their interest in doing that together. if you want to be part of it, so be it. I don't think there will be any problem with anyone.

The drupal hyderabad group as such always has to be open and inviting. Our goal as drupal hyderabad group or as individuals is to collaborate with as many people as possible and not restrict ourselves or put condtions out there that we should only be organizing. Let us participate and show our commitment instead of trying to control things all the time.

Time is running out, and i request you to put an end to these accusations and work together as 1 group and be part of making a successful event. Already as you can see the responses, there are few who participated the Lamakaan meeting and the ones who were unable to, have both expressed their interest in collaboration. So not sure why there is problem with others, when so many drupal hyderabad members has no problem with it.

I hope this will be the last post in giving explanations.

We have a lot of work to do. Since you have been part of organizing logistics in 2010 workshop, I would request you to take that over that. In case you want to contrinbute more, please feel free to express your interest.

I think what is presented out there is more a structure for managing this event. We would need people to volunteer for any team and based on your interests, you can demonstrate your leadership by leading any team with demonstrated ability than controlling.

I Agree

Hi Guys,

This is Anil Sagar from Bangalore. I completely agree with Venky. I would like to appreciate from my heart Drupal Hyderabad Community and all the members for making the event as Drupal Deccan Camp and NOT AS Drupal Hyderabad Event for Dries Visit.

Drupal Hyderabad Community (Siva, Bharath and others) are in constant touch with us (Other regional communites) from the day one regarding all the activities through e-mails and calls. We initiated spreading the word across our communities.

I would like to appreciate once again Drupal Hyderabad Community for their active involvement and dedication for this event. Looking forward to meet you guys in DrupalDeccanCamp.

Cheers,

Take things positively

@sandeepbillakanti , I believe all your questions are answered. I completely agree with Venky & Anil. Guys from hyderabad are continuously in touch with drupal community at Bangalore. And we are planning to have a similar drupal meetup at Bangalore to have discussions about Drupal Camp Deccan.
All meetups and camps are open for everyone and if somebody din't attend or not willing to participate doesnt mean that they are left out. Ther is no need to point fingers at each other, we should really unite and work towards the success of the event.

Hope people take things positively and make this event a huge success!

Regards
Chakrapani.

IRC channel #drupalcamp-dcn

Can i suggest #drupalcamp-dcn as IRC channel for having conversations ?

IRC channels should be

Sumeet.Pareek's picture

IRC channels should be created such that they are there forever.. check out my other comment below..

#drupal-in

ipsitamishra's picture

I think using the existing #drupal-in channel would be better than creating a new one. I am loving the discussions happening there and even getting updates about preparations happening around Mumbai event.

So our presence there would serve dual purpose, team conversation and also giving an update to other city members(whoever hang out there) about progress happening for Deccan event.

#drupal-in

yes, agreed with you. Yesterday i was discussing with ravi and wikidkaka on #drupal-in and then dropped an idea of creating new irc channel.

Sounds a good idea

asifnoor's picture

yes, we should create it. I will create and let you guys know.

why do you guys wanna create

Sumeet.Pareek's picture

why do you guys wanna create a separate IRC channel.. Dude this is so funny.. Its like saying we need an IRC channel for every separate bug in linux.. #linux would not do..

drupal-in should suffice.. and its been there for ages now..

This might have come off as

This might have come off as not so thoughtful. Wasnt' intended that way :-)

It is really a great

asifnoor's picture

It is really a great opportunity for all of us (hyderabad drupallers) to transform the current Drupal community from a set of developers and students to a community which has participation from NGOs, government, business, senior leaders and other organisations.

We should also use this opportunity to connect with these actors from all regions. This will provide us a deeper, more meaningful platform which we can contribute to at all times.

To make this event successful, we all need to participate. I have attended the end part of Lamakaan meeting just like sai tanay where as prajwala and ratnamala were there from the start of the meet. The ideas from everybody were encouraged, received and noted them down as an agenda.

Personally, All I want (just like like many of you) is to have a successful Drupal Camp Deccan. If I can contribute towards, I would be very happy. And I can make a successful camp happen only by being a part of it.

Thanks,
Asif

Its always better to have

Its always better to have focused communication lines for specific effort. It reduces noise and increases productivity.

This is the top article of

bugsy.seigel's picture

This is the top article of the "hot content" section on groups.drupal.org.... I just hope better sense prevails and all of us get back to "work". But I must say, I am loving the passion on display in the group. I just hope an equal commitment of passion is displayed in "Code Commits".

Missed it

I actually planned to join that meeting but couldn't do so. Hope to see some more in near future.

Any paln for webinar?

Pamulapati's picture

Guys, please settle down internal issues (if any) in the group first(Please have a meeting if required). This is only a suggestion, please don't bang my head :-). If you keep on quarreling on the forum, it will spread wrong message about the group. As a group we should be together and work as a team and make the event successful.

Any plan of organizing webinar for those who are unable to attend virtually? If you need any volunteers you can count on me.

FYI… I am a resident of Hyderabad and I have been working with Drupal for more than 5 years.

I'm just seeing this thread.

I'm just seeing this thread. Here's my 2c (if it's even worth 2 anna):

You guys are all amazing. You organized some of the most professional camps I've been to in about a 1/6th the time it usually takes to do it. In addition, it was the first camp in each city which makes it even more impressive.

This stuff happens all the time, everywhere in the world. Obviously, not just Drupal - it's the human condition, I've been on both sides of it as a disgruntled, ungrateful volunteer and as a secretive power-hungry leader :)

The truth is that in 99% of cases, everyone is just doing their best and with a compressed timeline, people make a lot of communication errors. Ultimately, I hope it didn't become such a drag that hugs and beers were skipped as a result of it. :)

I'm just sorry we had such a compressed schedule that Dries, Ron and I couldn't hang out all day :( At any rate, hope to see some of you in the next few weeks.

Best,
Jacob

Looking forward for next drupal meet in hyderabad!
