FREE PIZZA! & How to get there

We're on for the offices of www.ProBlogService.com
map to the meeting
Saturday January 31st from 1pm to whenever. I told the building we'd be out by 5pm.

The offices of Pro Blog Service are located in the MID WEST INTERNET building at 5348 N TACOMA AVE, INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46220
Tocoma meets 56th st [no street sign] in the parking lot of Locals Only.
You may find it easier to access the building off of Keystone Ave just behind the pawn shop. Armour road runs between the pawn shop and Kahns-Liquors/Big City Deli. If you take Armour East, then less than 80 yards will be tacoma and the building is on your left on the corner of Armour and Tocoma.
If you find your self wandering the streets of Broadripple, call me: 317-531-7216

Use this thread to make posts about what you want to share AND what you want to learn.
See you there!

Thanks Doug for the information.

I am new to Drupal and just want to connect with you guys to get an idea about this platform. I hope you guys can help me get started. What is the best way to learn this platform? What are the capabilities, etc.?

I have a long IT experience, have done lot of web development and work for Lilly right now. I am in the process of developing a social networking site for our community and would like to learn more about Drupal.

How I learned Drupal

indytechcook's picture

Download, install.
Play around with the system.
Get frustrated as Hell and give up.
Come back 6 months later and download and install again.
Play around and get frustrated again.
Try to search drupal.org and get frustrated as hell.
Find someone that can point you in the correct direction and start to read articles and the handbooks.
Look at api.drupal.org and get frustrated as hell.
Google "How to learn Drupal" and read.
Reading "Using Drupal" and "Pro Drupal Development" -- THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN STEP 4.
Google, Google and more Google.
Join Drupal group (Drupal Dojo especially). -- THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN STEP 3

Learn from my many mistakes. Start with the screencasts on drupal Dojo and Lullabot. Read "Using Drupal" first (A very easy read for a tech book). This will teach you how to use Drupal from a administrator prospective. Then read "Pro Drupal Development" (A little drier but good information). This will give you a solid introduction to programming in drupal. Using the Drupal API is very different then any traditional API that you have ever used. It took me a while to grasp the concept of Forms especially. I kept on telling myself that I just have been missing something. Trust me when I say it's easier to just "Trust the Magic."

bold issues?

We'll be there. Also have a friend in Indy (just down the street from the meeting place actually) who'll be joining. Looking forward to it.

Maybe next time

I am inconveniently out of town for most of the next month.

We should do this again soon!
