Hi All. Our first group will be meeting at the WHTR building (room 212) at Purdue University. You can park in the Marsteller Street Parking Garage for free. The walk from the garage to the building is about 5min.
Please let the group know you are coming by using the "sign up" button below. You must be logged in to see this sign up button.
4pm-5pm
The first hour will be for Purdue staff/faculty attendees. You are more than welcome to attend, but the first meeting will focus on their needs more. The first meeting will be a "what do you want to know about / do with Drupal". I have received some feedback already that attendees would like to cover: Drupal for courses, theming views and deploying Ubercart are of interests.
5pm to 5:30pm
Community and Purdue attendees will have Pizza and Drinks. Contributions are welcome. You can continue to eating after 5:30, if you like.
5:30pm to 7:30pm
We will discuss Drupal in general, what's new, how others are using Drupal, their experience level and what they would like to cover in the following meetups. The next Drupal meetup we will have an agenda based on feedback given. If you provide some feedback before the first meetup I will try to cover your requests in the meeting.
This time slot is for both Community and Purdue attendees, although the focus will be for the Community attendees.
All are welcome! Please bring Drupal questions!
Please comment below if you have questions / wants / needs for the meeting.

Woot. So close to Drupalcon DC?
mckneelycorp -- are you going to DC/DC?
See you all at WTHR!! (I only had to take a few classes there... mostly spent my time in a building that is now called PAO... Those were the days... where I had professors instead of actual clients...)
I will try to invite some interested web developer friends... (no promises on their knowledge of drupal, but huge promises on their knowledge of different aspects of web development)
Josh
Unfortunately I won't be
Unfortunately I won't be able to make it to DrupalCon this year. :(

I'll be there . . .
I'll be there on Thursday and there may be some other Drupalers from beautiful Heavilon Hall coming as well . . .

Welcome to the Purdue Drupal Users Group!
Dave,
I wanted to extend a warm welcome to you and thank you for joining us this Thursday. Elvis mentioned your name weeks ago as we were planning this meeting. I am curious what you have done with Drupal, what you are doing with Drupal, and what you hope to gain by attending this inaugural meeting.
I do see that you have been Involved in http://wpacouncil.org/ which has been around since Drupal 4.7, and has moved from ecommerce module to UberCart.
Elvis mentioned a few topics that might be of interest to the group. I would appreciate any thoughts you may have regarding the upcoming meeting.
Thank you,
- Doug Vann

Let's Roll . . .
Thanks, Doug. We've been working with Drupal for almost five years now for a number of purposes, including as the main platform for our writing courses and program websites (we're running about 100 sites each semester). We're also using Drupal for some open access journal sites. And as you mentioned, we host http://wpacouncil.org, one of the first e-commerce/Drupal sites. That has now switched over to Ubercart.
Many of our Drupal sites are listed here: http://www.digitalparlor.org/pwenglish/drupalsites
My "newest" site is for the publishing company I run (Parlor Press): http://www.parlorpress.com
That site is running Drupal 6.9 and Ubercart 2 beta (so "brand new").
I'm interested in developing Drupal in a whole number of ways. I think it will be great to meet with the gang to swap ideas, fixes, war stories, etc. I like the "hackfest" model. Drupal theming has been one key issue for us. E-commerce used to be, but at least Ubercart is much more stable and low maintenance for me now.
See ya soon . . .
Dave
Hi All, We were scheduled to
Hi All,
We were scheduled to have a meetup next Thursday but Professor Blakesley is out of the country. He is able to schedule the room/lab for us. We can re-schedule for the following Thursday (April 2nd). Let me know if this work / doesn't work.
Also, we are not able to have our "own group" on g.d.o, according to Group maintainers. So, DougVann is going to open up a page for us in the Indiana section. DougVann, we look forward to that! Thanks
What topic would you like to cover in the next meetup?
(1) Making a D6 Theme
(2) Adding Ajax/Json to Drupal
(3) Sharing (and illustrating) useful tools we use in our daily work (this could be a group effort)
One last question... Pizza or Bagels?

Hey Elvis,
Hey Elvis,
I was wondering when the next Lafayette Meeting was going to be... could you post a new message with those questions so we could separate from the original meetup and the new one? I think thats how I missed it in the first place.
I would like to do #1 or #3
Before we have another meetup I think we should post links to how to connect to Purdue WIFI. I'll try to do some research on that.
Josh
UPDATE: We can connect to WIFI using a Purdue Login if we have "Purdue Air Link" installed previously. Perhaps one of us could put this program on a usb stick.

great
April 2nd would be better for me. As far as content...I'm good with anything. Of the three choices, I would pick #1 or #2. For #1, I would like to learn a little more on how themes can have their own custom settings in the administration. For #2, I've never really used these "Web 2.0" features. I tend to just load all of the content in and hide/show it. However, with the increasingly heavy use of these technologies, I really should learn them better.

Meeting info
Will the April 2 meeting follow a similar time table as the original post states (4 - 7:30)? I'm thinking of attending if my workload is flexible enough that day.
Thanks!
Meeting on April 9
We're now shooting for April 9, Becky. I'll post info about time and place as soon as we can confirm a room. We were thinking of starting at 5 this time and would go until 7 (or whenever people wanted to leave).
Dave
April 9 Meeting Info
I've scheduled the same lab at Purdue where we met last time (WTHR 212; WTHR=Wetherill Hall) for a Drupal Users Group meeting on April 9 from 5-8 p.m. See you all there!
