Indiana
Welcome
Next Meeting: Thursday July 24th. Indianapolis Central Library
map: http://snipr.com/32i2k
The last meeting was Thursday July 10th at the Indianapolis Central Library in downtown Indy. Kevin P. / Kevin F. / Tanisha / Tyler / and myself [Doug Vann] attended. We covered workflow-NG, CCK, VIEWS, and Taxonomy. It was noted that some brains were beginning to turn to jello prior to the completion to the meeting!

The Three Stooges!
Here's a wiki page that is ALMOST entitled: The 3 Stages!!!
I propose that we all work out an outline of three distinct stages of Drupal development. Jump on in and add what you like. Please wrap your additions in Italic tags
Stage One: Absolute Beginners

CYBER-Meeting? View the meeting from out of town!
Some of you have asked about remote access to the meetings.
I have started an acct at vyew.com where I can do screen captures and share them.
To join in on the audio you would have to call a long distance #. Does ANYONE not have an unlimited long distance service? Seriously? :-)
So when I throw this ph# and set up the screen shots for Thursday.... Who will come?
I'm very, extremely, elatedly happy at the turn out that is coming to the meeting I wonder who could make it to the cyber-meeting?
Do tell. And let us know what you would like to see/hear going on.
Thank you!

TOPIC DECISION & Book GIVE-AWAY at Thursday July 24th meeting?
I want to accomplish 2 things with this post: Warn you about FREE BOOKS & FREE COFFEE and ask what ppl want to discuss at the next meeting.
Last time we got REAL DEEP into CCK, VIEWS, WORKFLOW, & TAXONOMY. We bit off a lot and from what I can tell it provided a deep enough exposure that anyone who wanted to had a good enough understanding of any one of those topics such that they could continue learning on their own from their. We will have some new faces at the meeting. I don't know what skills they have at this point.
So let me ask you all... What do you want to learn?
July Meetup: We're doing it again!
Welcome to the next July Indy Drupal Users Group meeting. We are always open for suggestions and are hoping that by meeting more often than once a month we can increase the participation level of the group. Right now, Thursdays at the library seem like a great place to start. The rooms are comfortable and the wi-fi is ON. Bring your laptops, bring your ideas and lets get some group projects on the table.
WHAT: Indy Drupal Users Group
WHEN: Thursday, July 24, 2008
TIME: 6:15pm
WHERE: Central Library (downtown), 4th Floor, Room 407 if available.
Hello from South Bend, IN
Hello all, my name is Brandon Morrison, and I'm a fairly new resident (6 months) to Indiana. I've recently started TFnS Web Design, a design boutique that specializes in small to mid-size web sites for small businesses and artistic types.
How many of you are in the northern side of the state? I've noticed that the meetings tended to be Indianapolis, which isn't all that feasible for those of us in Michiana to attend on a regular basis. Would there be any interest in having a get together in South Bend sometime?
Hello Indiana Group!
Hi everyone. I just wanted to say, "Hello" to everyone out there. I am fairly new to Drupal, but have quite a bit of experience with both commercial and other open-source CMS systems. My company has decided to go forward with Drupal as their main platform for multiple community-based web sites, so I am jumping in head first!
July IndyDUG Meeting
What: July IndyDUG Meeting
Where: Indianapolis Library - Central Location (Downtown)
When: July 10, 2008
Time: 6:15pm
A few discussions have been going around as to what we would like to get out of
this month's meeting and poll was put up. We've had a few responses and it seems
theming is a topic that will be on the agenda for July's meeting. Come ready to
ask questions and learn from your peers about Drupal theming.
Please let us know if you can make it.
Look forward to seeing you there!
What Would You Most Like to Learn at the July IndyDUG Meeting?
Thoughts for next month's (July) Drupal Meeting?
Hello everyone!
The June 24th meeting was attended by Tony, Doug, Becky and yours truly. The meeting was held at the Abbey (after hours); a mistake on our part for not finding out what hours they kept but we were graciously allowed to remain on site to have our drupal discussion. Needless to say, this was a very informal gathering.
Doug showed us a couple of his sites including one being vamped by his son. Way to go Tyler! Tre'von is envious right now (yes, I had to tell him but he is in Atlanta living it up for the summer).
Would you participate in a weekly skype conference call of the Indy Drupal Group?
Anyone Going to the Next Drupalcon?
Anyone from our group going to the next Drupalcon? I'm thinking about it. Should be a pretty expensive ticket though.
Tony
Tuesday June 24th Meetup at the Abbey - 6pm
ADMIN- ADDED: Attached is a PDF of a flier that you can use to promote this event.
The flier is not the greatest but it's the best I could get on short notice. Use it or make your own.
I'll be at the Abbey ready to talk all things Drupal on Tuesday, June 24th at 6pm. Anyone care to join me?! I'll bring at least one friend that also uses Drupal. Hope to see you all there!
Tony
When is the Next Indiana Drupal User's Group Meeting?
Any news? I'm looking forward to attending!

Suggestions on how to proceed?
As a total nood to Drupal, I must admit that it is a little overwhelming to look at all the modules and try to decide a plan of action when it comes to developing a site. I have been given the opportunity to build a site for a photographer who wants to be able to set up individual pages for wedding clients to proof photos, and purchase prints for themselves and their friends.
Drupal developer | Marketing/Communications company
I work for an online marketing company looking for a developer to implement a Drupal CMS/ecommerce site. It's a fairly robust site (400 pages) with some slightly more complicated taxonomy requirements. I am a project manager and would coordinate content/images/data, etc. but need your help in creating taxonomy, creating ecommerce, customizing layout, identifying and implementing modules, etc. Also, would need your help on consulting, possibly training. All work can be done at your location - may need one face to face meeting. fyi We're in Chicago.
What sites have you developed?
I am curious to know what sites all of us Hoosiers have developed with Drupal...good or bad. Here's the list of sites that I have done:
Hosting ideas?
Folks, I'm looking for some ideas.
I currently play "site admin" for four different web sites. They are all physically located in different web hosting accounts with the same web host. All of them are running Drupal. My role with all of them is to keep Drupal and the necessary modules and themes up-to-date and to establish the structure and functionality of the site. It's someone else's job to create and manage content using the tools that Drupal provides. All of these sites are for not-for-profit organizations and I'm not making any money from them...just covering expenses.
Our Shared Resources
This is a wiki page that any of you can edit. The idea is that we can all contribute to this list and watch it grow.
So let me ask you. What are the resources [Drupal or otherwise] that you rely on to get you where you want to be? What are the tools, the websites, the books, anything that makes you better than you were yesterday?
Let's list them here!

Announcing the new #drupal-indy IRC room.
Hey gang.
Here's a meeting room that everyone in the state of Indiana can attend.
I have created the Indiana Drupal IRC Chat Room on freenode irc network.
The room is always open because I built a bot [I named him indybot] and placed him as an ever present bot in the room.
New to IRC?

We will take a tour of the data-center and drool over racks and racks of servers. My server's there and that of my former employer [ask me about that one!]
They also have a rather impressive museum of technology including computers developed by people that are no longer walking the earth.
