Meetup Ideas: Drupal Core Patching and Drupal Install Fest
Two ideas for upcoming meetups we could host at Zivtech (1511 South St). Both would be bring your laptop hands on meetups.
Drupal Install Fest
People who would like to try Drupal for the first time could come and get help from Drupal developers on the basics of setting up LAMP on their laptops and installing Drupal. If we get more experienced people than beginners we could always split into a second meeting next door at the bar.
Drupal Core Patch Fest
New and old Drupal developers help each other get more involved in the core issue queue. We could help people learn to use CVS, guide beginning patchers into easier issues, and work together on some patches.
I want to get a sense of how much interest there is in either of these ideas, more thoughts, and then schedule one.

I really like both ideas.
I really like both ideas. I'm a little partial to the core patch fest being that we're a mere 5 or so months away from code freeze and there still are a lot of issues that need to be resolved to make D7 kick ass :), but I would definitely participate in/help out with either idea.

I like the ideas and would like to come... but don't think any time before 4/15 will be work. Thanks for taking the leadership!

I like both ideas. I've never attended a Drupal philly meetup, didn't even know they existed until very recently, so I'm pretty excited!
Either idea would be great. I know how to set up WAMP and do a Drupal install but I've never tried LAMP. I recently installed Fedora 10 and have been trying to figure out how to set up all the necessary stuff so I can get started on installing Drupal, so this would be beneficial for me.
I'm also very interested in contributing more to Drupal and the core patch fest would definitely be a great intro for me.
So I'm definitely in regardless of which option we end up choosing.

And an upcoming [Philly|MAD]Camp should be on the agenda too!
4/20 = no good for me
I'll be returning in the evening of the 20th from the Open Media DrupalCamp in Denver, so that date won't work for me. I'm fine with the 21st, however according to the PANMA ical feed there's an educational event that night as well.

Just wondering if this meeting up was still going on today and if so what time? I do realize how late this is going out.

Ok, let's go for this Thursday and work on the core issue queue. Install Fest meetup we should also do soon. I'll start a new post to get this going for Thursday.
