These two groups appear to overlap quite a bit and I propose that we merge them into one.
Here are the mission statements for each group:
The popularity and use of DRUPAL has grown by leaps and bounds; thanks to the vibrant community it has developed around it.
The South Bay DRUPAL meetup is another effort in building and strengthening the local Drupal Community.
The South Bay DRUPAL Group is an effort in building and strengthening the vibrant Silicon Valley Drupal Community.
Merging the two groups would include members and posts. Most of the posts in each group have been cross-posted to the other one anyway. I also noticed that one organizer is an organizer of both groups.
Having two groups that serve the same purpose or geographical area can create more work for the organizers in each group and is confusing to new members. Not to mention there are two South Bay regions in California.

And there's currently a request for a San Jose, CA, group.
Sounds good
I think this is a good idea. I'm currently on both groups.

Are there any more thoughts or suggestions from anyone about migrating the South Bay California group content and members to the Silicon Valley User Group?
I think we should pull the trigger on this but we haven't heard from any of the group organizers. I've contacted them via their contact forms.
Silicon Valley Drupal | South Bay Drupal Groups
Silicon Valley Drupal Group is the name for the meetup group and to avoid confusion, the name of the group on drupal.org has been changed to Silicon Valley Drupal Group.
Thanks everyone for the suggestion.
We as a group are 500+ strong on meetup and about 200 on the Drupal.org group.
Any idea on how we could merge the membership?

Thanks for responding so quickly!
I see you just renamed the South Bay Drupal group to "Silicon Valley Drupal Group", which means we now have two Silicon Valley groups (Silicon Valley Drupal Group and Silicon Valley User Group). If we're going to try to avoid confusing people, now's a really good time.
The question is, will "Silicon Valley Drupal Group" absorb the "Silicon Valley User Group" content and membership or vice-versa? I think if we don't hear back in a week or two from Manish or vishal.tanwar (who organize the "Silicon Valley User Group" group) that we can merge the two and "Silicon Valley User Group" will be the one left standing.
There is no way to merge memberships on Meetup.com and groups.drupal.org. This is a common predicament for other groups, and one common approach I've seen is to use Meetup.com for promoting outside of the Drupal community and groups.drupal.org for communicating within the Drupal community.
Silicon Valley groups have been merged
To minimize confusion, the "Silicon Valley" and "Silicon Valley User Group" groups have been merged with the older and larger "Silicon Valley Drupal Group". This group has also been renamed to "Silicon Valley" so that it conforms with our naming guidelines.
The main issue for this is in the groups.drupal.org issue queue at http://drupal.org/node/1454720
