Camp planning
At our March meeting, we decided the April DrupalCamp would be at LinuxFest Northwest (see http://groups.drupal.org/node/20345 for notes on our proposed format, and http://groups.drupal.org/node/20598 for the official "event" listing and signup). In short:
The deadline for submitting formal talks for Saturday has passed (April 1st). We do need to get people to volunteer for the Drupal Clinic room on Saturday (could also be people from Vancouver and Portland, so probably I should set up a signup wiki; will talk to Jakob first and see if this is happening, i.e. if they have space). We also need to figure out who is bringing supplies, moderating/introducing/etc. for the BarCamp. We could also have a table in the exhibition hall, but that would involve having people to staff the table, and at the last meeting, there was little interest.
We are also still planning to hold a 2-day formal camp in October. Josh K is looking into Adobe connections for the venue, so perhaps he will be able to report on that. UW is also a possibility (Dave Hurley), and there is a whole list of other possible venues in the planning section of seattle.drupal-camp.org (if you log in with a privileged account, ask if you want/need privileges).
Dave H is also interested in possibly hosting a 1-day beginner pre-camp in the 9/14 to 9/22 time frame, where we could potentially use his department's computer lab. So we could also discuss what a beginner pre-camp would consist of. It could be anything from Scott's idea from last month about an informal one-on-one drop-in session (beginners are paired with experts, who can lead them through Drupal learning), to a more formal "classroom" setting. It would be good to get ideas for this settled soon, and to decide whether this replaces the need to have a beginner track at the October Drupal Camp.
The building is reserved for
The building is reserved for Drupal camp, so we have three or four rooms to our use. We don't need to have everyone signed up until next week, but that is when the schedule will be solidified. We need more presenters!
Also, I'm worried that only 4 people have signed up to the event. Please take a look at the event page here: http://groups.drupal.org/node/20598 if you're planning on attending, please sign up! We need more publicity for this event. Anyone up to this? One idea is to get the April Camp posted sticky at the top of this page. Is that possible?
Which days?
Is the plan still as in http://groups.drupal.org/node/20345 -- Saturday for formal presentations and a "clinic" room, Sunday for a no-plan-ahead "bar camp" format? Do we have space for that, and can you give us an idea of the space set-up?
Thanks,
Jennifer

Lightning talk...
I've just put the finishing touches on a new search module... I'm working on an article about searching in Drupal as well, and am about to apply for a CVS contrib account so I can contribute several modules to Drupal (including this new search module). Anyway, I'd like to do a lightning talk about the search module at next week's meeting.

I've found 'menu_get_object' to be a particularly helpful core function, thought I'd share why for 5 mins/20 slids
