Marathon website - ForEveryChild.org
On Tuesday we will be creating a website for the non-profit organization For Every Child, an adoption agency that works with orphanages in Taiwan and Haiti. For Every Child helps families navigate through the US and foreign courts to make the adoption possible. The current websites they have are:
Their current hosting service SnapPages only allows a certain number of pages per account, which is why they currently have two sites. The forum is rarely used and is low on the priority list.
A new site map has been created here: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=paIocYCJfrjqUe9Is3VxJXA. The blue cells represent pages or views.
A few different content types will be needed for the site:
- Page
- Blog post
- Image - for the main photo galleries
- Child profile - Name, age, birthday, gender, location, care, bio, images
- Orphanage - Name, location, description
- Family profile - Name, location, description, images
- FAQ - question and answer
- Event - for events calendar (only if we have extra time)
We'll need a few taxonomies set up also, but I don't have all of the information right now so we'll have to work on that.
Let me know if you think there's any other information we might need to get this done...

Are we sticking with the
Are we sticking with the same host for this or do we have to go with a different one? From what I can tell we are going to have to go with a different one, but I was just verifying? SnapPages looks like just a way to build websites (like a lot of other free website hosts).
Oh yeah, should've mentioned
Oh yeah, should've mentioned that... I'll be hosting it on the WebChuck servers. That'll make it easier to develop, since we'll have full SFTP/SSH access.
Exciting!
This looks really cool! I'm looking forward to this meet-up—hopefully it'll spark some interest of other people in the group that don't normally make it.
