Start:
2009-06-08 19:00 - 21:00 America/New_York
Event type:
User group meeting

Only local images are allowed.Get your 3D glasses ready... We'll be meeting in 3D (yes, I mean in person) next Monday, June 8th at Stetson's. We'll meet at the upstairs bar around 7:00 pm, and will get started with introductions followed by a round of five minute lightening presentations at 7:30 pm.

So far, a few people have volunteered to lead lightning talks.

  • Adrian Rossouw, in town from South Africa, will talk about Aegir, a set of modules that helps you easily deploy and maintain many Drupal sites. He'll talk about what you can do with Aegir, where the project is, and where it's going.

The floor is open for anyone to give a five minute lightening talk, so if you'd like to talk about something you're working on in Drupal - like a module, a new website/tool, a question you have, etc. - post your topic in the comments and come ready to talk.

DC Drupal meetups are for people of all skills/knowledge levels, and all levels of presentations are welcome. Don't be shy if you're just starting or thinking about starting with Drupal - the meetups are a great way to learn and meet people who've been in your shoes before.

More details on the venue are below. See you there!

Great turn out last night! It was exciting to see all this interest in Aegir and Atrium, the best place for people that want to see more on Aegir in action are these two blog posts:

Aegir in action - Watch a screencast of the first alpha of the 0.2 release:
http://www.developmentseed.org/blog/2009/apr/20/aegir-in-action-first-al...

Aegir From Scratch - Installing Aegir 0.2 RC 1:
http://www.developmentseed.org/blog/2009/may/20/aegir-scratch-installing...

Also, there were some great questions about passing upgrades out to sites, like when you build a new feature. Adrian talked a little about his ideas for a feature server for Drupal.

If you are interested in features and Drupal, Young has a MUST WATCH screencast Making and Using Features in Drupal:
http://www.developmentseed.org/blog/2009/may/29/making-and-using-feature...

You can start working with the code from d.o http://drupal.org/project/features

Also there was some good discussion on Drush last night, and how this can save you a ton of configuration time by using the command line rather than Drupal's UI to configure your site you can get started with it now: http://drupal.org/project/drush there was just an official 2.0 release today.

Also here is a hot link to the Admin module you saw: http://drupal.org/project/admin
