DrupalCon Paris Library Session Proposals, Please Vote

effulgentsia's picture

If you're attending DrupalCon Paris, according to http://groups.drupal.org/node/24060, the deadline for voting on session proposals is this Sunday, July 12. There are two session proposals tagged for libraries: http://paris2009.drupalcon.org/category/session-free-tagging/libraries. There's also a session proposal I found (and maybe others I missed) that isn't tagged for libraries, but is quite relevant to libraries: http://paris2009.drupalcon.org/session/porting-biblio-cck. And there's lots of other great session proposals. So, please take advantage of your opportunity to vote before the deadline. It will help determine which sessions receive a time slot, and help the event organizers know how big a room to allocate for each session.

I'm co-presenting the SOPAC one

Oh, in the interest of full disclosure, I guess I should mention that I'm a co-presenter of the SOPAC session, so I have a selfish reason in asking you to vote. But, really, even if you're not interested in the SOPAC session, please read through all the proposals and vote. Everyone wins when more voices from the community get heard.

I don't know what the librarian population will be

If there isn't enough support for all of the sessions, I think that we should try to have one demo session, Perhaps with you, Katherine and Paul, as an overview of how Drupal is used in Libraries, then try to get as much BoF space & time as we need for everything else.

I fear not many ...

I think the librarian population will be pretty small. I'll be there, and greggles will be there, but past him, me, and the names already mentioned, I know of no other librarians attending. I'm guessing not many libraries could afford to send anyone; I know I'm paying out of pocket for my attendance.

I would like to see what you're working on, regardless of whether or not you get an official slot.

There's a fairly large

There's a fairly large international Drupal influence for libraries but I haven't gotten the impression that a ton of librarians are going to be there. However, a combined demo would definitely be worthwhile, and a BoF breakout would be very good.

I'm very interested in both of the other two libraries presentations as well, and would like to hear about them also regardless of whether or not they make the official list.

1 BoF or 2?

Final schedule still not posted, but from the draft schedule and looking at the vote numbers (the library sessions are all in the bottom 25% in terms of votes), it doesn't look like any of the library oriented session proposals made or will make the cut. At the last two DrupalCons I was at, Cary helped organize a library-oriented BoF session for general discussion. What do you think of trying to have two BoF sessions this time? One for general discussion, and one for demos? Or do you think 1 BoF for demos and discussion is enough? I'd love to see what Katherine's been working on, as well as what everyone else has been working on, and I'm happy to share what I've been working on. I'm looking forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new folks.

That sounds great to me.

That sounds great to me. There will also be a Barcamp on Tuesday starting at about 1ish. http://barcamp.org/DrupalCampParis4

They are late in getting the word out on this, which seems to be their MO.

OTH...

... On The other Hand, if there is nothing specific for libraries, why would a library come ? In french, we say it's a "matter or egg and chicken" (who was 1st the egg or the chicken...)

Anyway, we (BibLibre) will come to the conference (2 : Jean André Santoni, that did the SOPAC connector for Koha, and me, BibLibre owner)

Library meet-up during DrupalCon

r4gni - Tue, 2009-08-25 09:26

Hello! I will be at DrupalCon, too. I am fairly new to Drupal and the community, but I hope to get to know some other librarians during DrupalCon. Should we have an informal meet-up? We could do that during BarCamp or at some other point. What do you think?

I work for the public libraries in Hordaland, Norway. We are currently working on changing owrkflow and setup of the library websites here towards Drupal.

Library meet up

For sure i'll come with my BibLibre T-shirt at DrupalCon. Add that i'm almost 2meters tall, and, even with 800 attendees, you should be able to find me ;-)
However, I won't be here everytime (i've some other meetings).

I'm all in favor of such a met-up though !

Library meet-up DrupalCamp Paris

I know this is probably too short notice. But, all you librarians/library geeks and Drupalers, lets try and meet today during Drupal BarCamp at 5 p.m.
If this doesn*t work out, we can try again on one of the next days. Maybe we can have dinner together on wednesday after the last session?
