Schedule Change

All-- I cannot make the phone call. I am underwater with work and need to step away from this. Christefano, I need to formal request to be removed as organizer since this is the 3rd planning call I have not been able to make. Inlcuding site visits and everything else that is to come with this, I think it best for me to step out and set some better expectations for myself.

Sorry I couldn't be an asset to this event. I will support it as much as I can.
Stevenator.

No worries, Steve. The DDCLA

No worries, Steve.

The DDCLA organizing team consists of people who not only have committed time to making the event happen but have committed themselves to working well together.

We'll be luck to have any of your time in the future. You're welcome to jump back in any time, whether it's during the planning process, on the days of the conference or anywhere in between.

Sorry, Steve, but I must

Sorry, Steve, but I must disagree. You've already been an asset to this event by your involvement early on. I know you were able to attend some site visits early on that I wasn't able to make.

But I feel ya on the schedule thing. I echo Christefano's sentiments that we'd be lucky to have you in any capacity. So take your time, bud, & whenever you're able to jump back in later, we'll be here to welcome ya back.

Minutes from conference call #3

christefano's picture

This call had Mike Land from We Are Landing and Oliver, Christefano and Miguel from Exaltation of Larks. Topics discussed were:

Announcement: New sandbox project for DDCLA

  • Christefano thinks it's a good idea to use public Drupal.org infrastructure as much as possible (we will revisit this if circumstances change and it's no longer a good idea)
  • We are using the group wiki for high level information and the sandbox issue queue for the nitty gritty and any task assignments

Announcement: DDCLA codebase and theming

  • DDCLA 2012 is reusing the DrupalCamp LA 2012 codebase and theme that Mike Land is donating for DDCLA 2012
  • Mike said there are elements that are more design-based that didn't make it into the DCLA 2012 site; stuff that would be very cool from a design perspective that can be built on top of what we have already
  • Christefano will get the assets from Mike and check in the code to our DDCLA sandbox and set up a dev environment at http://dev.ddcla.org/2012
  • Mike will project manage the site and theme development and let the organizing team know what he needs

Discussion: Content for DDCLA 2012 website

  • Miguel is starting off the gathering of requirements for content needed on the site, such as venue information and nearby attractions
  • Do we want to organize a content sprint?
  • Do we have a group rate at a nearby hotel?

Discussion: When to launch DDCLA 2012 website

  • Current plan is to set up site for user registrations by the beginning of last week in August, to coincide with the kickoff of the Frontend Drupal meetups in Los Angeles

Discussion: To rebrand or not to rebrand?

  • Drupal Design Camp LA's name originated from Drupal Design Camp Boston. The "Design for Drupal" movement has evolved and other conferences, including Frontend United, have rebranded
  • Christefano proposes Design Camp LA and his phone crashed - sign from the gods?
  • No rebrand at this time, though we may do that next year and have a multi-track, multi-technology event to coproduce with other (non-Drupal) organizations and user groups

Discussion: Ways of capping attendance due to venue size

  • Confirm with registrants a week or two before
  • Possibly offer a guaranteed seat in exchange for community sponsorship and potential perks

Next steps:

  • Mike Land will provide existing assets to Christefano
  • Christefano will get the website assets and check in the code to our DDCLA sandbox and set up a dev environment at http://dev.ddcla.org/2012
  • Oliver is following up with LA Drupal Association
  • Christefano will check in with the venue on contracts
  • Miguel is starting off the gathering of requirements for content needed on the site, such as venue information and nearby attractions
  • Agenda of next call will focus on budget
