Here is a very brief recap of the meeting.
1) Presentation which got everybody up to scratch on our progress.

For an overview of the categorise, please see here - http://groups.drupal.org/node/248298
NEXT ACTIONS FOR OCTOBER
- Confirm budget
- Define our sponsorship structure and costing
- Start website development for potential launch in November
- Structure the format of the venue
There will be a regular meeting every 2nd Thursday of the month where each group will show what progress they've made. The meeting is on the 11th October, 6:00pm at City University.

Excellent!
Thanks for the update and great to see things moving along... and dates yay!
I'm sure some of the Brighton contingent will want to be involved, our http://BADCampUK.net is just getting into full swing at the moment so I'll mention to people dates have been set and if they want to get involved to check out this group.
Thanks Steve That will be
Thanks Steve
That will be great to gain insight into the experience running the Brighton camps
We will share a roadmap til March for DrupalCamp London as soon as its ready which will show how people can get involved.

Alternative names
It was great to meet last night and start to get involved.
One issue that was mentioned was the possibility of a different name to 'DrupalCamp' to better reflect the goals. Here are a few ideas I scribbled down to kick off brainstorming:
- Drupal Days
- Drupal Rave
- Drupal Sessions
- Drupal Storm
- Drupal Time
- Drupal Meet
- Drupal Gathering
- Drupal Splash
Different goals?
There's different goals than the thousands of other DrupalCamps? I'd love to hear what they are...
Same goals, better name
Hi Steve. I'm not sure of what background discussion has gone on prior to last night, so I can't say much about the motivation for the suggestion of a different name.
But my own take on it is that other DrupalCamps probably have very similar goals, but maybe 'Camp' has never been a very good word to reflect these goals. To me it aligns with either Camping or Campus, which give the impression of something geeky, earthy, basic, techy. But the goals of events like this are much broader, including raising awareness in the business community. The word Camp just doesn't cut the ice in this respect, nor does it convey the more trendy, stylish, fresh image that some others would like to promote.
Changing the name is a distraction
With the greatest respect to your comments I don't think we should get distracted from the very quick decisions and large amount of work there is by worrying about changing the name of the event.
Everyone who has spent even just a short amount of time with Drupal will have heard of a DrupalCamp and thousands of people already understand what is expected from a Camp vs a full on DrupalCon or a CXO event etc.
It would be madness to rename the event unless we were significantly diverging from the expected format or structure, which judging from the meeting on Thursday we aren't. If we really need to 'brand' this Camp in a different way surely that should be left to the actual branding and marketing and leave the name as is. We can apply whatever take we like to the overall ethos, be it business related, agency driven, or developer focussed in the marketing materials and website.
There's enough to do as it is without worrying about conveying a different message to our audience.
Not important, but urgent
Hi George. I'm not sure it's the most important issue either, but I thought I picked up a suggestion at the meeting that some people were keen to find another name, hence offering a few suggestions.
Interestingly, I've just noticed that for the Brighton event this weekend, Steve is both using 'Camp' in some contexts, but not in others:
- Title: BAD Ass Drupal Weekender (no mention of Camp)
- http://badcampuk.net website and BADCampUK mentioned in various contexts
Nothing wrong with this, but it seems to reflect a similar idea of a familiar type of event, but maybe that 'Camp' doesn't do it justice.
I agree that the most important thing is that we make a decision quickly so we can get on with publicity.
Question to Ed and other group leaders really: is this an issue or did I get the wrong end of the stick?
Without really going into the
Without really going into the context my instinct when I looked at those options was for Drupal Storm and maybe graphically a storm could link in nicely with the drupal droplet.
I'll be at the next meeting,
I'll be at the next meeting, only issue this time was being sick. I think getting ready for Drupal 8 is an important category as well, especially as quite a lot of us London folk are involved in D8.
Hi
I am currently state side, but I'll pop down when I get back to the UK.
Event roadmap
Hi All,
We've been working on the event roadmap which will give everybody an overview of our main tasks each month. I've attached a more condensed version above - view here.
This will show what we're currently working on. All progress will then be discussed at our regular meeting at City University - every second Thursday of the month.
This roadmap has been checked with some experienced DrupalCamp organisers and they’ve said we’re on the right track – which is great!
Thanks
Ed
