Lets get productive and get some work done...
So one of the task assigned to this group is to provide a recommendation for the location of drupalcon europe 2010 and beyond.
and as narres pointed out there is already a date set to accomplish this goal:
"Drupalists in Europe should choose a city for the next European Drupalcon before 15th October"
since it is just a bit more than a Month till this date we need to get things going.
I suggest a 2 step process...
- coming up with Citys/Locations for drupalcon europe 2010 and giving users a chance of Pointing out Pros and Cons of each possible Location. And of course getting people Involved into the Issue.
I guess we could do that by adding each City as a comment to this Post and then adding the Pros and Cons as Comments to that City Comment.
I would suggest we are collecting locations till 24. September 2009 - doing a poll after 24. of September I would (I volunteer for the job of doing the actual summarizing )summarize all the cities that where suggested by then and list them with there Pros and Cons. I would let the Poll itself run for about 2 weeks till 8. October 2009
and afterwards summarize the result of the poll and submit the top 3 cities (including pros + cons and voting results) to DA. by October 15th.
So If you are agreeing that this would be the way to go forward with this just feel free to recommend a city under this post or submit things that are a Pro or a Con for one of the citys already mentioned. And of course make People aware that there is something going on right now. And they should stand up for there wishes, needs, favorites.... now not when there is a decision made.
If you do not agree: come up with a better solution and we will be happy to go your route.
Edit:
Since writing this I Found the BOF Writeup from Johan Falk which states a kind of finte list of cities for 2010 and seems to be a little more open for 2011.
So i will put in just the list from the write up to keep this discussion productive, please do not add any other cities to this list because there right now seems to be no point in doing so. I will add all the missing cities right now.. so please Just bring up the pros and cons.

but I think if we want to merge those groups this should be done rather soon as there will be more users, more posts... so you or some other admin of the old group talk to kristof about merging the groups as the new group gains users right now...
Merging is easy
When deleting a group, Organic Group does have the option of merging the posts and membership of the old group to a new one. It's a one click operation.

London-ish
Hi there
As a flag waving Londoner, there's nothing I'd love more than a Drupalcon/camp in London.
However, the Drupal Association would probably get more value for money by venturing slightly out of central London itself - heading for the A4 corridor or as far out as Milton Keynes or Brighton - towns within an hour from London by train but a fraction of the cost for venue hire, hotel rooms etc.
As an event organiser, merchandising, marketing & PRO professional with 15 years experience (as well as a Drupal nut), I would be more than happy to help out in any way.
