Sprint

Join us in charming Gastown, Vancouver for two days of code sprinting to get Drupal 8 in great shape before feature freeze!

On day 1, Friday November 16th, we'll be working out of the Hollyhock room in the Flack Block at Cambie and Hastings. This is an awesome space and our rental of it is kindly sponsored by Acquia.

Then on day 2 we will work out of the Affinity Bridge office in the famous Dominion Building, right across the street - thanks so much to Affinity Bridge for letting us use their space!

Recommended Preparation

Hi katbailey, although I'm an experienced software developer, I am fairly novice to Drupal. I wonder if you could recommend some (Drupal 8 specific) preparation reading or coding in advance of this sprint meet-up. I know lots about Drupal 7, but I haven't contributed anything to Drupal 8. I'd like to be as helpful as I can be.

I'd take a look first at the

I'd take a look first at the d8 initiatives, and see which one most interests you, and see what needs they have by checking with the maintainer:
http://drupal.org/community-initiatives/drupal-core

Also probably a good idea to get a stock d8 setup locally, assuming you can setup a local environment (MAMP, WAMP, XAMPP, Apache, etc) clone in the d8 branch and point apache to it with a mysql db:
git clone --recursive --branch 8.x http://git.drupal.org/project/drupal.git

Good advice

Great. I will do these steps (I can set up WAMP locally). Thank you japerry!

I'll be there on Friday only. I'm new to core development, but I thought this is a great place to start. I'm interested in the configuration management initiative and will see if I can find some tasks there for me to do.

See you all soon.

This sounds great, I'll be

Just wanted to give some

Just wanted to give some slightly more specific details on the venue tomorrow - it's #304 163 West Hastings Street, a.k.a. the Flack Block. I should definitely be there by 9am to buzz people up, unless BC Ferries lets me down, which would not be very unusual :-/

Location/Time for Saturday

Hello,
Can someone tell me what is final location and time for Saturday?
Last info was Affinity Bridge office. Is that still standing, and if yes, what is good time to be there?

I will be there tomorrow. At the very least I can keep people caffeinated and help out wherever I can.
