I like the second one better than the first, but I'm wondering if it wouldn't be better if it was even more streamlined. Perhaps something like this:

I prefer the first logo - the shine on the top gives it more depth and is a closer reminder of the drupal guy logo (more personality).

Recently got put on a SOLR / Python project, so I have mentally disconnected from Drupal. For this reason, I'll have to bow out of the food organizing committee. The good news is that you will be spared from eating vegetarian food. ;)
