Myriam from EvolvingWeb suggested that we create a thread to collect design suggestions for the upcoming Montreal DrupalCamp. So... ummm... I guess this is it.

... and while I'm at it...
I'll just throw out a concept that I developed a for the first Montreal Meetup (without the text that was featured the middle.
Admitedly, while it may convey a kinda "flower power"/collectivist vibe, it doesn't do much to reflect Montreal.
To be clear, this is not Koumbit's proposal... just something I felt like showing.

biosphere
I like the biosphere idea, although I'm not sure how well it will transfer to a t-shirt.
Logo update, x-thread reply ans so on...
I agree with all who questioned the 'printability' of my pseudo-logo. After all, it was just a thought. So i've pushed the thought a little. I'm no gfx artist though.
Myriam & all, here then is a version of the 'idea' with a lot less colors - the campfire adds way too many but i couldn't resist (and a bigger one attached). Any real gfx artist care to take the baton & run with it? I'll gladly send the Photoshop file with layers if anybody want's to play with it.
A circular or lens like shape on a black t-shirt might look good... with a circular title typed as a succinct php print statement!? :-)

I'm not a real gfx artist but
I'm not a real gfx artist but I do have experience making fabrics printable. if you want to email the PSD to me (mirmartz@gmail.com), I'll take a quick look and see if it can easily be indexed.
Another take...
based on the same idea.
+1
This one's got my vote, and not just because I don't watch a lot of hockey. Also, my understanding was that the tshirt design had to be just two colours (unless we've got more sponsors than I've heard of), so I'm not sure the tuque would work.
Should we create a poll for these designs, perhaps on http://www.drupalcampmontreal.com/ ?
I wasn't going to put this up
I wasn't going to put this up because it doesn't really work as a t-shirt/logo design. But I guess it's a nice Photoshop study for anyone that wants to see how to make a photo printable in only 4 colours:)
... or perhaps with...
...a tuque?
... with the emblem...
of a true Montrealer. ;-)
Use of the Habs logo
... might be asking for problems.
I like the biosphere versions a lot! Wish I had a drop of design in me, oh well.
Well we aren't going to be selling them...
... so the incentive to come after us legally is limited. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it but you aren't the first to mention the implications. Ironically, those that are the biggest advocates for open source tend to be the first to step up as would-be intellectual property police.
In any case, we thought about changing the "C" to a "D" with something like...
You just had to...
get the big O in there somewhere didn't you? ;)
They all look great, not sure we can afford the Canadiens logo though...
Great stuff
Omar, this is scary stuff... I had thought about a reflection of the Mtl's skyline in the St-Lawrence... But was beyond me. I think it's great and i think it's very Montreal - and quite original i might add. May i ask who's work this is?
Bravo!

+1 for the touque, minus Les
+1 for the touque, minus Les Habitants.
I'm with Ryan on this one -
I'm with Ryan on this one - the colours are enough to show its Montreal.
wow!
This gets me very excited to be a Drupal camper knowing I'm getting quality swag. Biodrupal is my vote, but they're all quality.
Just to complicate things further... a version with a scarf
I don't know how we're going to decide but the work was done and so Im sending it along. We may or may not get a version without the C and one with the D in the next couple hours.
with the D
my favorite...
btw, I think that this is my favorite. :-D
Omar
... although the text *is* a little intrusive...
... as it is big and, with the negative effect, a little noisy.
and without any emblem...
and finally, as promised, another version of the biosphere...
...without a smile.
1st version
i would vote for your first tuque version much more clean IMHO
