The Hub - Seattle 220 2nd Ave South, Seattle, WA 98104
Learn about Drupal and meet local Drupal enthusiasts. We will meet from 6 pm until 7:30 pm.
Agenda
The meeting will feature as many 10-minute presentations as time will allow on a topic that is interesting and useful for every level of site builder, from beginner to expert. This month, the topic is Views!.
We will also discuss the new venue change.
Views is a query builder for Drupal that has a visual interface.
What are your favorite tips or tricks for working with Views? If you’d like to share one in a 10-minute presentation, submit it in the comments. It would be terrific to have at least 5 or 6 presentations. Here are some topic ideas:
- Checking out default views
- Working with exporting views
- Views caching
- Views theming
- Contributed modules for use with Views (data export, VBO, etc.)
- A case study of solving a particular problem with Views
Coworking will be at Zeitgeist Coffee (171 S Jackson St.) beforehand, starting at around 3:30pm.

Draggable Views
I'd like to demonstrate Draggable Views. It seems to be a module that gets overlooked a lot and I think it can be really useful for sorting just about everything when only weight is involved.
Better Exposed Filters
I'm hoping someone will do a presentation on Better Exposed Filters. mikeker, do you know anyone who could do that?
I'm guess I'm on the hook for
I'm guess I'm on the hook for an exposed filters presentation, especially with Rick's avatar staring at me like that...
Put me on the schedule for: Views core, BEF, Views Hacks and other fun modules that let you filter, sort, and tweak the results you get from Views.
Anyone have experience with Solr? It would be great to Solr to the list, but I have no personal experience with it...
I'll tackle theming
I need practice talking and getting more involved with the group, so I'll present
what little I knowthe vast amounts I know about theming (which I actually do get quite a kick out of)... with templates or so. Mostly D6. I'll run through some solutions that I've used on the Seattle Community Media site.Exposing data to Views
I'd like to show how to expose your own data to Views.
Views Relationships/rewriting
I've been getting knee deep using views relationships and in particular flags for theming etc. I can put together a short presentation on how relationships allow you to build views with related data and then use the views rewriting to do some fun stuff with theming etc.

Views 101...
Do we need a Views 101 talk to lay the groundwork for the awesome talks that folks have volunteered for?
I suppose we could poll at the meeting and see if that level of details is needed or not. If it is, it would be nice if someone had a quick presentation in their back pocket.
Thoughts?
Intro sounds like a good idea
I can do a quick intro if nobody else wants to. I think it will be brief but if you have never used Views it will help to get a lay of the land.
If you are coming and have not used views before check out the first 2 (free) videos here for a god intro:

Co-working at Zeitgeist
It's official. Co-working will be at Zeitgeist Coffee at 171 S. Jackson Street (at 2nd Avenue), starting at around 3:30. The HUB is less than two blocks away on 2nd.
More importantly...
.. at least to me! :)
Where's the new post-DUG beverage location? Collin's (next to Smith Tower) has a good beer selection and food. But I believe they insist on one check for groups over six. I can verify that.
Other ideas?
Using Views for queries in your own custom module
I'd like to do a talk about using Views instead of writing your own database queries in your custom modules.
Problems with Hub location
After driving 90 minutes to Seattle for the DUG, my GPS told me the Hub was located at a homeless shelter, which is not the most comfortable place to be on the street. Plus, I could not find any parking, and the parking I did see was outrageously expensive. After a half-hour trying to find the location shown in the Hub's website photo I turned around and drove another 90 minutes home.
Please, could we consider another location? I, for one, would be more than willing to pay up to $100/year, in dues or otherwise, for a SEADUG meeting location with adjacent parking included.
Driving to Hub Seattle
I agree that driving to this new location is a bit more difficult than the previous location. At least the rush hour traffic doesn't help. Sorry to hear you had trouble finding the new location.
I don't know if I was lucky, but I did find a standard street parking spot which was free after 6pm. A parking lot would be great, wouldn't it!

disregard, wrong HUB...
