Anybody taken an O"Reilly course in sys admin?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Sorry if this isn't the right place (so many groups out there :)! ) but I was wondering if anyone ever took or could recommend this O"Reilly Media Course in Linux:

I'm trying to get my sys admin chops, have some books, but thinking that maybe some structured resources would help.

Thanks and apologies if this is the wrong group; not sure where to ask this question.

I haven't taken the course. Thanks for the link!

You may want to cross-post this to the DevOps group, too:

O'Reilly

I haven't taken this one, but I've done other O'Reilly courses - mostly in things I have otherwise resisted learning (.Net for example - needed it for one particular client).
For me, their approach is a good way of kind of keeping my own nose to the grindstone, when I'd really rather be doing something else. In contrast, with stuff I really enjoy, I just get in there and start paddling, and use Google when I get stuck :-)

IMHO the best part of O'Reilly's approach is the instructors, who are genuinely responsive in my experience. For the price, I'd advise trying to get as much out of the course leader as you can - I found that really helpful.

The material is accurate, if not really all that adventurous - though their system is slow to get updated with new material. I suppose with Linux sysadmin that's not such an issue, but IIRC they were doing .NET 3.x long after 4 came out.

YMMV of course...

To be honest that seems like

To be honest that seems like a lot of course hours (fairly reasonable price for that number of hours) to learn the basics. If you learn better in a classroom, go for it, but if you are reasonably comfortable googling, I'd say just dive in. There are ample online resources for all of the skills listed there.
