I second that
I am about ready to implement a calendar so this would be great!

We actually NEED a calendar for the dojo
We're about to be in desperate need of a calendar for the dojo so that we can schedule our lesson topics in advance for the sensei to reference when offering teaching help.
Makes sense to do a class on the Calendar module. +1 from me.

Perfect
We should create a Dojo calendar live for the class.

Yes sir we need some tutorial help with the calendar
Is there any where I can find a tutorial on the Calendar functionality?
DrupalCon Date + Calendar
We're doing a session on using Date + Calendar at DrupalCon. If someone can help me figure out how to get it working and be available at the session for assistance and hand-holding, I'd be glad do a dojo broadcast of the session.
Updated: I'm going to change my mind about trying to do this at DrupalCon since there are other speakers and I'm not sure how easy it would be to incorporate this into what we're doing there. However, I'd be more than happy to do a regular Dojo lesson on Calendar if anyone is interested (and willing to help me figure out how the system works). I've been adding lots of new features to the module and can cover both how to set it up and use it and an overview of some of the new things.
More specific objectives
I think saying we need a class on calendar isn't clear enough.
Basic calendar functionality is available with the event module. It's pretty straight forward, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there are few who would benefit from a class on installing the module.
The Date + Calendar mix is where the real flexibility comes in (and thus the need for instruction). I put together the step-by-step instructions for a basic calendar. If that's not enough, perhaps a short screencast would get people started on the basics, and get them a feel for what the other possibilities could be. If that sounds good, maybe Karen or I could put one together as a mini-lesson.
Beyond that, how about some specific scenarios/problems/questions.
Benefit?
If you do, I wouldn't mind seeing someone touch on what benefit there is to using date + calendar over event. People keep saying that it's more flexible but I still haven't figured out what date + calendar does that event doesn't. I'd like to see something that compares the functionality and gives some idea of why you'd want to choose one over the other.
