A proposed schedule for the next two months...

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I had the pleasure of meeting up with Angie (webchick) the other day and we came up with a few ideas regarding the planning of meetups in Montreal.

The main conclusion was that, given that there seem to be as many people wanting these things to take place on weekends as there are people who would prefer them on week days, we thought that it might be appropriate to alternate between the two. Note that we also thought that it might be nice to alternate the location of the meetups too between the Bande-Passante and other locations... some of which have yet to be identified. Based on the above, I came up with the following proposed schedule for the next couple of months:

** READ THE FULL POST FOR THE UPDATED SCHEDULE **

  • Wednesday, March 21st (1pm - 5pm) @ L'utopik
  • Sunday, April 8th (1pm - 5pm) @ Bande-Passante
  • Wednesday, April 18th (1pm - 5pm) @ (To be determined based on feedback)
  • Sunday, May 6th (1pm - 5pm) @ (To be determined based on feedback)

Robin (millette) suggested that we could, instead, simply pick a couple of recurring (i.e. easy-to-remember) dates (e.g. 1st and 15th, or 5th and 25th) and just let them fall on whatever days they happen to be. Personally, I'd just assume start with the schedule above.

So what do you folks think?

UPDATED SCHEDULE

Based on webchick's suggestion the days were flipped somewhat, so the updated schedule is:

  • Sunday, March 18 (1pm - 5pm) @ Bande-Passante - DONE
  • Wednesday, April 4th (1pm - 5pm) @ Bande-Passante
  • Sunday, April 22nd (1pm - 5pm) @ L'utopik
  • Wednesday, May 9th (1pm - 5pm) @ (To be determined based on feedback)
  • Sunday, May 20th (1pm - 5pm) @ (To be determined based on feedback)

Note that I also set this up so that the sessions held at the Bande-Passante would be during the week since some of us are already there at these times.

Sounds great, but could we swap them? ;)

I'm out of town the 21st (OSCMS) and 8th (Providence training). :(

So how about:

Sunday, March 18 (1pm - 5pm) @ Bande-Passante
Wednesday, April 4th (1pm - 5pm) @ L'Utopik
...

If not, that's fine. :)

Thanks for posting this, Omar! I got swamped. ;(

I'm ok with that...

... no biggy!

This sunday at Bande-Passante

We can host you this Sunday at the Bande-Passante, see you then :)

And what about the parade?

I fear I'm gonna have to pass for this one, as this Sunday is (once again) supposed to be dedicated to family life. I wish I'd be there though 'cuz I have quite a few very interesting questions involving a great mix of Category, i18n (5.x-1.x), CCK, Views, ...

Anyway, no big problem, I'm sure I'm still gonna have interesting problems (that's questions with seniority...) in the next few weeks.

Need to post all events...

I just barely have the time to say... I think that we should post all the upcoming meetups as separate events on this site. That way they will appear in the calendar and we can plan/comment-on them separately.

Just a thought.

I agree, but...

...since each one makes its own separate post, it probably makes sense to post each one individually, in advance of when the event actually happens by a week or so.

Otherwise, we load up our calendar with 60 events, and then no one remembers because a new post wasn't made. ;(

Looks good

Thanks for putting this together, Omar. The dates are fine for me. During the week my I only finish my day job around 4pm, so I will only catch the last bit of the 1-5pm meetings, but I will make the effort to get there at least for a bit.

@webchick: I don't mind if your dates are selected, but I most likely won't be able to make it this Sunday.

This sunday at Utopia?

Is this coming Sunday still on at Utopia? I have cleared my schedule for 1-5pm, so I shouldn't be missing this one :)

L'Utopik!

Yep, this Sunday, at L'Utopik. See you there!
