Hosted Drupal Services/Providers?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I'm new to this group - quick introduction: I have been using Drupal for over a year on my own site (www.neovisionlabs.com - nothing fancy). The company I currently work for is considering a hosted CMS solution for an internal CMS and I'm voting for Drupal (of course ;-) Having run my own Drupal installation I am however dumb struck when it comes to hosted solutions - do any of you know a good local vendor? I'm mainly interested in corporate managed hosting services with a focus on Drupal.

Thanks,

Michael

hosting + drupal = hosted drupal?

Is there some reason you want a hosted drupal service? Why not just set up a hosting account (I just started using MediaTemple and am pretty happy) and make your own install?

The only hosted drupal provider I know is http://bryght.com/ but I don't know much about them. It's certainly not going to be as flexible as setting up your own system but they will take care of upgrades and such for you.

I second Media Temple

Thanks for the pointer mate - will check them out...

why hosted drupal

I hear you and I agree - this is what's been decided and it's based on the way our own network is set up. Easier to have it hosted outside and managed as well - I personally would prefer to just host my own server, maybe I'll push for that a bit harder....

I believe this is what you are looking for:

an outstanding company. Installations and upgrades just a part of package, any package. The only way I ever got CiviCRM running was to have them install it for me.

Instant Drupal Hosted Sites

My company also offers 1-click instant Drupal Sites.

You will save days of work on themeing, configuration, etc and we also take care of upgrades.

Process is as simple as

1) Point your name servers to our host

** Give a day or two for DNS changes to propagate.

2) Select a solution -> theme -> make payment
3) Fill in your domain information, Keywords, Meta Tags, Description, Site Information
4) Make Payment (Solution Price - One Time + Theme price - One Time + Monthly Hosting)
5) Your site is ready to use INSTANTLY.

Why local?

As you have seen from the responses, managed Drupal hosting is not something that you find on every corner.

We offer Drupal hosting at a tier one datacenter in Los Angeles as a service to our clients. This is a fully managed service running the latest versions of Drupal (currently 5.11 & 6.5) available at any level from shared hosting to dedicated server. We use top hardware including Dell servers along with Cisco and Foundry network gear. That said, we are not a commodity host and our products are priced fairly. Our clients are hands off and want complete service. Since we are local, I suppose that you could actually come and eyeball the servers, although nobody has ever asked (most of our clients are not local) and we wouldn't encourage it.

There are two things you can do to mitigate costs. If you can tolerate less than full service, a company like Open Source Host with decent support and a good reputation is the way to go. If you need a higher service level, and can tolerate a limited choice of configurations, Bryght would be a good choice. Of course, neither of them is local.
