Galiano Digital Media Potlatch
The GDMP (perhaps to be officially renamed?) will go down
- Drupal Hacking
- Blogging
- Photography, Video, Audio, Fusion-Work and everything multimedia
- Nature Play
The general flow of the days will be ...
a) an early geek-out session
b) an afternoon "Go Play Outside" session (kayaking, hiking, sailing, canoeing, frisbee, etc. etc.)
c) an evening follow up geek-out session
We've got the use of the Galiano Golf Course upstairs office in exchange for giving them a new Drupal Site, the extent of which will be decided by us. Personally I'm hoping for something a little stronger than an out of the box install. To Be Discussed. Perhaps a Golf Course install profile is in order?
MORE NEWS SOON, but expressions of interest and official signups are most encouraged!
cheers!

Cool thought
Looking very cool, I love island adventures. Maybe actually create a new group here, that way people can subscribe to the group and follow up on all the details.
New Group Created
As per Boris' suggestion, a new group has been created. It's unimaginatively called "Galiano".
Do subscribe if you want to follow along with this event. Expect a wiki soon as well.
cheers

am i having a flake out
am i having a flake out moment? i totally can't find the new group.
I can't find it either
... but I'm new to groups.drupal so maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.
Anyway, count me as interested in this event - my house is just up the road from the Galiano Golf Course so I'll at least drop by and see what's happening.
Groups are moderated at first...
...so no one can find it until I approved it. Also -- rather than a "generic" Galiano group, I reworded it to be specifically for this event....which is what I meant :P
See http://groups.drupal.org/galiano-potlatch-2007 -- nally, you should be able to re-edit the description as needed.
And I'm subscribed.
Thanks B-Mann!
Thanks Boris.
So I take it that from here on in we can let the Vancouver group rest from Galiano-spam and only bother them with significant ads for the event...
for example...
I'm happy to announce the participation of one of our local luminaries in the event, Andy Beers. He launched MSNBC, and these days focuses on digital video and its integration in on-line community. He's signed up to talk either about something digital, or perhaps speak on the best BBQing methods.
So... from here on in I'll post most of my stuff within the Galiano-Potlatch-2007 group itself. I've got a good feeling about this event. Now all it really needs is a mission statement. ;-)
But be forewarned... the internet is slow out here. You'll all need to download a copy of the internet before you come.
cheers!

Cool...
Slow internet: good excuse to learn CVS and other offline tools, as well as collaborative techniques to work on stuff together.
Somebody should DEFINITELY take it as an action to sync an offline copy of the contributions repository....
