There is a unique opportunity to use Drupal to help save many, many lives in Haiti. Please see the examples and demo app below.
YOU can help us to design and build cutting edge web apps for this important cause.
There is an urgent need for Drupal Devs to help develop Drupal-based tools for getting needed info to people on the ground in Haiti who critically need information or resources - doctors, orphanages, etc
We have a european team lead by Greg Harvey, but we need to put together a US team to keep the dev work going around the clock.
Robert Douglass from Acquia is also involved. Jacob Redding, former Drupal NYC leader also is involved.
John Zavocki is the Theme Manager for the project.
We also need a Project Manager for the US team. We have several US devs, but we need more US devs and a manager..
We have gone through a first phase of app development. We are now coordinating with other groups, and have merged with Ushahidi.com and CrisisCommons.org
There will be a Crisis Camp NYC for Haiti this weekend, Saturday, January 30, and possibly Sunday, if there is need / interest.
Here is a link to a draft demo app showing what we developed so far, for creating a data mashup and casetracker that will help online Helpers find tweet requests from groups in need. There are still many tweets for urgent requests from large groups of people who still need food, water, etc:
Crisis Condition: People who are trapped or need food are tweeting from their cell phones using hashtags like "#haiti #need..." trying to get help.
Other people inside and outside of Haiti are responding with tweets, like: "#haiti #have.."
A major goal by us an others is to do feed aggregators with data mashups like the one demo shown at this site: http://dev.haiti-earthquake-information.org/en/need-have-offer
to provide Helpers with web tools showing a current #haiti #need feed next to a current #haiti #have feed. The Helper picks a specific #need case, and starts a case. The tool then provides a workflow by which the Helper can search for #have cases that can solve the #need case, and continues until the #need is successfully solved.
Here are two real case of urgent tweets that we have found from very large groups of starving people, taken yesterday, January 27, from a Twitter search for the Epic Project "crisis hashtags": #haiti #need
on #haiti #need - Twitter Search 5:29 pm
RT @epiccolorado: #haiti #need food & water for #num 1000+ people at #loc Villa Manrese #info Urgent - for people camped in......
on #haiti #need - Twitter Search 3:44pm
@ConsciousChange #haiti #need FOOD WATER #loc "Caring & Sharing Mission" Delmas 33 #num 200+ ppl #contact John Hearns, jhearnsjr@aol....
We have already sent this information to Ushahidi, and they have set them as priority cases that need urgent help. As we build the app out further, we will include direct links to specific supply / delivery resources that will be provided by the CaseTracker, so that the Helper can set up the appropriate supply and delivery orders, and follow them to completion, so that the people are rapidly rescued.
This is just a rough outline, but should give you an idea of one of the tools we are creating.

We also have a Skype chat room, and I can get anyone who sends me their Skype name onto that chat if they want to do dev or theming work. We also have an Unfuddle site for the project, which you can join to see detailed Docs, Messages, Plans, Tickets, etc.
