I just launched a new site for my research group using Drupal. I just use use custom node types with the necessary fields for journal entries. I also have set up a editorial system for our research descriptions so that the professor can give things the okay before they post (using workflow module). I'm pretty pleased with the result so far.

This is a great looking lab

This is a great looking lab site. Was there a reason you chose CCK over biblio? I tried that initially but found that the interoperability with EndNote and other features of biblio were simply too good not to use (despite the drawback of not having control over the data structure).

To be honest, I wasn't aware of the Biblio module. Perhaps if I had joined this group earlier I would have looked into it more. For now CCK is sufficient for us. However, I may look into Biblio more in the future.
