The next Drupal Meetup taking place in Washington, DC, will be on Wednesday, July 18th, at the Science Club (1136 19th Street, NW). We’ll get the meeting started around 6:30 pm with a round of Yuenglings, and you can bet that with weather like this, we’ll be picking up the first round.
At 7:00 pm we’ll get down to business with five-minute egg timer talks, and this time I’ll remember to bring the egg timer. We’ll do between six to eight talks, keeping this part of the meetup under 40 minutes. Post any ideas of what you’d like to talk about or learn more about here – it’s first come first serve.
One point of business: Since the meetups have grown so much, we’d like to get them going on a regular schedule. From now on there will be a Drupal Meetup the third Wednesday of each month, and it will always be on the second floor of the Science Club. We hope this makes it easier for everyone to plan on being there.
See you all next week. I can’t wait to hear what you’ve been working on!

I'll be there. I'd love to do a 5 min talk to show some of the sites we've been working on lately.
Thanks!

I'd like to present
I'm really hoping to make it next Wednesday, and if I do I can do a quick 5-minute presentation on using nested forms (sort of) to integrate Drupal with the Hey!Watch video transcoding service (and supporting non-jQuery AJAX uploading without conflicts along the way). It's a fairly specific solution, but could probably be generalized to solve some other weird problems, too.
I'll be there
I'll be there and if there's time (I'll let others go first), I can show what I've learned recently about boost.module. It's a great way to tremendously boost site performance for busy sites using flat HTML caches instead of DB cache or dynamic pages. It's pretty sweet.
I'm There (for a change...)
Way to get things organized Eric! It's been a few months since I've been able to make it to a meetup, so I'm looking forward to it.
If the presentation slate isn't booked, I've got 5 minutes of show-and-tell about a data-intensive site we've built on education funding -- comparing and contrasting across all 14,000+ U.S. school districts.
The bells & whistles include flash charts generated from node data on the fly; some fairly hairy Views argument handling code, and seriously customized tpl files to pull in all the data. (We originally had lots of the data in a separate database, but have since moved it all into the CCK nodetypes so that we could more easily search/filter with Views.)

A half a block from my office and I manage to forget or miss it every. single. time. sigh Hopefully I'll make it this go...
How newbie is too newbie?
Would this mtg be suitable for someone who is not too much of a tech whiz and is just considering learning to use drupal?
Yup!
Yes, come on down, (or come on up). Meetups are for anyone interested in Drupal!
Good to know
Thank you, mroswell. Turns out it won't be this time (unexpected emergency) but I look forward to next month's mtg.
