group: Seattle
robeano - Mon, 2007-08-06 05:49
Start:
2007-08-16 18:00 US/Pacific - 2007-08-16 20:00 US/Pacific

The August Meeting (plus coworking):

Location: Espresso Vivace (on Yale Ave in Seattle...across from the REI)

Date/Time: 8/16 from 6pm to 8pm

Agenda:
* Introductions and Announcements
* Lightening Talks - who's up for giving a quick talk (please post a comment to this event)
* Suggest other agenda items by posting a comment to this event

If I remember correctly from our last meeting, I think the plan is to have talks for the first hour, then break out into smaller groups to help those who are currently working on a site and needing some help.

Possible Lightening Talk Topics:
* Handling Images
* Using Panels
* jQuery Introduction
* Views: working with views programmatically
* Views and Args
* Mapping and Google

Coworking: We have reserved the room at Vivace's from 3pm to 6pm for coworking before the meeting. I'll be there and I hope to see you there too.

I'll be there for the co-work and the meeting. Looking forward to it.

edit:

if you are taking suggestions for a lightning talk I would enjoy a quick rundown on how to keep local and remote sites synched.

thanks

I have had to go through

I have had to go through this process recently and would be willing to talk about what I've put in place assuming I can come. Will know better closer to the date.

I'll definitely be at the meeting this month - thanks as always for organizing it.

What is coworking? Sounds intriguing.

Cheers,

Tobias

Actually I haven't done any

Actually I haven't done any coworking yet, so I'll be finding out for the first time. I think we can make it into anything we want it to be. I have a couple of projects I'm working on, so I'm planning on bringing my computer and working on them. Maybe we help each other out if we're having trouble? Maybe we make it anything we want it to be?

Hey there

communitysteps@... - Wed, 2007-08-08 18:55

Welcome back. Did you go forward with your Drupal migration?

The cow-orking sessions were suggested in order to pair up small groups that could work on specific questions with each other. The larger round table group discussions distribute a good amount of information, while the smaller, work sessions can spend an hour or so focused on one topic or helping someone tune their Drupal site.

Last week we met and shared some information on how to integrate or import external data with Drupal, plus some overview of panels, views, and the admin menu system. The sessions can also be used as just a social space for getting other work done, while having other folks on hand to ask questions... http://groups.drupal.org/node/5401

I'll be there for some

It'll be my first DUG meeting

Hey,

I started working with Drupal for RealSelf.com in April, and I wasn't able to make it to the other DUG meetings because I was out of town.

My background is in custom web applications, so I really appreciate how Drupal allows me to focus my effort on the elements that make a site unique instead of getting bogged down building the whole thing from scratch. The Drupal community is wonderful, and it'll be great to meet some fellow Seattlites working on Drupal.

We are hiring for a smart, motivated developer with PHP, CSS, HTML, and (ideally) Drupal experience to extend RealSelf.com. With Drupal 5.2 and CCK, we've found that we rarely need to develop custom modules, so Drupal experience would be nice but isn't a requirement for this position. This full-time position is at our historic loft near the Whole Foods in South Lake Union.

Please contact me if you or someone you can recommend might be interested in this position.

See you on Thursday!

Eric

Hey Gregory et al - so sad to not be able to come, but I'm stuck here trying to solve some far less fun problems related to upgrading our server to php5. Say hi to everybody and have fun!

Cheers,

Tobias
