OpenPublish 1.7.1 Performance Patch II

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Attached is a revised NodeRelationships patch for OpenPublish 1.7.x. The revision is a significantly improved version of the original patch, with even more performance and with couple of bugs fixed. This patch provides a significant performance improvement and is a recommended patch for all OP 1.7.x installations.

To apply the patch:

  1. Back up the database and files of your existing installation (just in case).
  2. Download tar.gz from the Open Source. Open Minds website and unpack it on top of the existing noderelationships module in sites/all/modules.
  3. After you replace the existing noderelationships module with the downloaded one, please, make sure to clear Drupal cache (from devel or via http://yourdomain.com/admin/content/clearcache).

These steps are the same, regardless of whether you have already applied first patch.

We will release an updated complete 1.7.1 build soon, too, but the above instructions should be fine for existing installations.

Thank you!

That was a hard nut to crack, but great job. For those that care to follow the path itself, http://drupal.org/node/660958#comment-2751878

The link is up there (top post). You should use Firefox or other browser (NOT IE) to download it. Or if you are at a linux/unix console, you can use wget to download it.

@stattalk is right, IE,

@stattalk is right, IE, somehow, manages to corrupt tar.gz files during download, so using Firefox is highly recommended.

Additionally, if your tool for extracting tar.gz archives is giving you hard time, try using WinRar (http://rarlabs.com/download.htm) instead.

I tried downloading it with FF. Then I uploaded to the server and tried to unzip it there. No luck. Here is the error.

tar: Skipping to next header
tar: Archive contains obsolescent base-64 headers

I have troubles opening the tar.gz file also. I have to use the zip file. I use cpanel and the "extract" button. It fails every time with tar.gz, but works with .zip. Hope this helpful
