11:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Drupal, winner of the Overall 2007 Open Source CMS Award for Best Open Source CMS, supports a variety of websites ranging from personal weblogs to large community-driven websites. We will spend the day migrating a static website into a dynamic Drupal website for a local non-profit. Multiple teams working on different aspects of the site (installation, configuration and theming) will build simultaneously to develop the new site. This project will not only help move a local non-profit with a new website, but demonstrate how to build a Drupal site.
Agenda
11:00-11:30 Introductions, project goals, Drupal review
11:30-1:00 Break into 3 development groups, begin building and configuring (12:15 check-in)
1:00-2:00 Lunch break
2:00-3:30 Restart development process, user QA testing, finalize for production (2:45 check-in)
3:30-4:00 Closing remarks, demonstration of new site.
Post Mortem: Share drinks and discuss what went right & wrong, next project...
Special thanks to Office Nomads for providing space for this event!

Plan to participate...
If you are looking for a head count, I plan to come on Saturday. I'm a programmer/techie. Lots of PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, CSS, HTML experience. Some Drupal programming and site setup experience. No video expertise. Not a designer/artist. Happy to participate however you feel is appropriate, given the above.
I can't make it to the Thursday planning meeting, sorry!

Add my name to the RSVP's
I am a php/mysql programmer, and have chosen to use Drupal as the base for a site I am creating as a contract developer. I have a pretty good base of skills in php, mysql, css, html, some javascript, web-server configuration, and general linux knowledge. One of my Drupal specific projects of late, is to modify the download_count module to work with the filemanager & attachment modules instead of the core Upload module.
Looking forward to "rubbing elbows" with other Drupal enthusiasts !

Btw: I am bringing my laptop (with developer tools installed, of course!). Is it safe to presume that there be wi-fi access there?
Welcome
Glad you can join us. Yes there is open wifi and we would enjoy having folks test the site throughout the day.
I'll be there early as well
to help with any setting up
