Sign Up Needed or Just Show Up?
I've never been to a Seattle DUG meeting. Do I need to sign up or just show up? I'm looking forward to the June meeting!
Just show up
Most of us don't bother to sign up. :)

Suggestion for SeaDUG meetings
Rocksoup made a suggestion in the IRC channel today about proposing a different take on lightning talks and it is exactly what I was hoping for in SeaDUG meetings...so I thought I'd steal his thunder (see what I did there? ;) ) and make a post about his idea.
My ideal would be to have folks propose questions here prior to the meeting and then someone would volunteer to give the lightning talk to provide the answer. Preferably someone who has the expertise, but if no one does it could turn into a discussion where people would propose different thoughts on how to approach and solve the problem. It may turnout to be a discussion anyway since there's usually more than one way to do things.
Rocksoup's example given in the IRC channel was "How do I make a custom RSS feed?" I would like to know that as well, Rocksoup.
Some things I've often thought about, but wasn't sure if they were too elementary are:
1) How to incorporate a blog within a site and have it have a different theme from the rest of the site; how to address ease of use for non-techie users who will be contributing to both sections (the blog and the website content).
2) What are "your" standard modules you always install when you start a site and why?
3) Why do "you" use drush and how to use it?
Anyway, I thought I'd start Rocksoup's idea and see if others think it's a good idea too. Or, if folks have other ideas to enhance the general sentiment as well.
Another discussion question: PHP 5.3
Ubuntu 10.04 apparently has PHP 5.3 rather than 5.2. I would like to know what people expect would break if I upgrade my test box, since I'm not all that familiar with the differences, and how they impact Drupal 6, Drupal 7, and contrib modules.

Drupal 6 itself is known to be ready for PHP 5.3 except one known issue which is detailed at http://drupal.org/node/360605#comment-2866234.

php 5.2 vs 5.3
My team ended up going back to 5.2. The main module we had issues with at the time was ImageCache, although it might be okay now. Since our target environment was 5.25 and we had to use modules already installed on the target, it made more sense to comply with it rather than trouble shoot.
Good luck.
PHP 5.3
I had a bunch of trouble dealing with dates within PHP 5.3 urg!
you'll need to set timezone in php.ini and ereg is deprecated

Drupal 6 and Windows Live Writer
Here's a blog post I wrote on configuring a Drupal 6 blog (or any content type) for use with Windows Live Writer, which I mentioned at today's meeting.

I got pretty excited about using drush after the meeting, but I'm having trouble with the macports port of it, seems there's an issue with php52 conflicting with my installed php5. I've deactivated the conflicting port, but php52 still fails to build. Has anyone else had any valuable experiences with this on their machine?
Issues with CLI on MAMP
I use MAMP which in the latest version allows you to select php52 or php53 when your starting apache.
To get drush to work, I hand to fiddle with the Command line (CLI) config, deleting /usr/bin/php and replacing it with a symlink to the 52 binaries.
Maybe I should upgrade my
Maybe I should upgrade my MAMP, I ended-up installing drush the regular way from drupal.org, works fine so far (although I was getting some fatal errors using it earlier with a local d7 installation on Ubuntu, have to look into that, too).

Space for Drupal event
At the last meeting I mentioned that I'd look into the possibility of free space in Redmond for an event, but I don't remember which one (whoops). Can someone please send me all the details? Thanks.
