I might be coming to Tacoma sometime in February, and was wondering if anyone would be interested in trying to throw together a Drupal meetup of some sort while I'm in town. The dates aren't fixed yet, but I just thought I'd throw it out there to see if there's any interest.

Also, anyone have any leads on a place to crash while I'm in town?

The main part of my trip is to support a close friend who's been wrongfully accused as part of the Green Scare, and her trial is going on in Tacoma at that time. http://www.supportbriana.org for more about her plight. She's looking to rent/sublet a place for the month for herself, her husband, and their small child. Sorry to spam the groups about this, but anyone who can help her will immediately get major dww-loves-you points. ;) Just let me know if you've got any leads.

Thanks!

Certainly be glad to round up some SeaDUG Drupallers to welcome you and show you around Seattle.

The Seattle Drupal User Group (SeaDUG) usually meets on the third Thursday of each month. So most likely February 21st, but flexible.

We've also been holding weekly coworking sessions each Thursday since there are a fair number of active projects and questions among the group. Locations are posted weekly.

Let us know when your plans firm up...

Till then

Places to Stay in Seattle

Update: Not clear if you're stopping by for a night or two in Seattle. Sorry I don't have Tacoma leads.

Not sure what your budget or style is but my favorite places are the Ace Hotel (downtown) and the Sorrento (capitol hill, nearly downtown). They are on opposite scales in terms of look/feel and experience.

The ACE is super modern, urban (just above noisy street) and has an upscale hostel thing going on with shared bathrooms, although if you pay a little more you can get a suite with a bathroom - one has an amazing pivoted door/false wall. It's just the coolest place evar if you are into sparse modern aesthetic. Read more about it at http://www.43places.com/places/view/459136/ace-hotel-belltown-seattle (real ppl reviews, photos and link to official site of course).

On the opposite end of scale is the more traditional and service-oriented Sorrento. It's in a beautiful historic building an a quiet area yet very near downtown and has gorgeous suites with all the trimmings. There's a beautiful bar and sitting room downstairs practically dripping with mahogany and is very near (stumbling distance) of my favorite watering hole "the Hideout" - local art types. http://www.43places.com/places/view/399342/sorrento-hotel-first-hill-sea...

Otherwise there are many fine main-stream hotels in the downtown area like the W, the Hotel Monaco, etc.
