The Central Connecticut Drupal Meetup Group will be holding its next educational and interactive, face-to-face meeting on Tuesday, August 17th from 7pm to 9pm at CPTV/WNPR at 1049 Asylum Avenue in Hartford, CT, as it continues to build and strengthen the community of Drupal developers, designers, administrators, content creators and other stakeholders in Connecticut. Come meet fellow Drupalists. Come learn what Drupal can do for you and the best practices to apply when using Drupal. Come help steer our group to become an invaluable source of information and networking opportunities. We are a passionate and fun group, enthusiastic to grow and help all those interested in Drupal - beginners, journeymen and experts - by sharing our collective knowledge, expertise, experiences and ideas.

Agenda

  • Introductions
    • Who are you? What brings you to this Drupal Meetup? What do you do? How do you use Drupal? What are your websites? For what companies do you work?
  • Welcome to Drupal Newcomers
    • A Quick Introduction to Drupal (when those new to Drupal are present)
  • Group Business
    • Selection of Presentations and Activities for Future Meetups
  • Presentations, Discussions, Hands-On Exercises and other Activities

    • Top 40 Common Modules: A discussion led by Dr. Mark A. Friedman, President and Computer Scientist at The Richard Roman Institute.
Top 40 Uncommon Modules: A discussion led by Thomas Sullivan, Independent Consultant.
We will begin an exploration of the top 40 Drupal modules commonly included on Drupal websites in conjunction with an exploration of the top 40 uncommon but highly useful Drupal modules. The common modules should be important to everyone and their presentation particularly important to those new to Drupal. The uncommon but useful modules will keep things interesting for experienced Drupalists. We will begin with a fast introduction to the two top 40 lists and over a period of time examine some of these modules in greater depth.
  • Informal Group Discussion

    • What have you been doing with Drupal? What help do you need with Drupal? What assistance or resources can you provide with Drupal to other Meetup attendees?

Hi everyone. Our next Central CT Meetup is scheduled for next Tuesday, August 17th at 7:00pm.

Due to vacations, I do not believe we will be able to meet at Trinity. Can anyone volunteer a space for our next meeting or suggest a space that may be available?

Our agenda includes the presentation: Top 40 Common Modules and Top 40 Uncommon Modules:

We will begin an exploration of the top 40 Drupal modules commonly included on Drupal websites in conjunction with an exploration of the top 40 uncommon but highly useful Drupal modules. The common modules should be important to everyone and their presentation particularly important to those new to Drupal. The uncommon but useful modules will keep things interesting for experienced Drupalists. Cheers,

Mark

So Sorry I missed it - but can help with DrupalCamp CT

I'm really sorry I couldn't attend last night. If anyone has the list of top 40 modules, I'd love to see it. The Central Ct Drupal meetups have been wonderful & I'm happy to help fill in the gaps with the DrupalCamp CT needs. I'll check that website, I guess, to see what volunteer positions you need filled. Thank you very much & hope to see you all next time.

Another Great Meeting!

Thanks again Mark for arranging things. Thanks Derrek for the use of the space, and the great demo of recent accomplishments. Meeting notes can be viewed here. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the upcoming Camp.

Six attendees discussed

drmarkafriedman's picture

Six attendees discussed suggestions for DrupalCampCT and the top 20 of Lullabot's list of the top 40 Drupal modules. We enjoyed a presentation by Derrick Ellis on work he has done to build a nifty user interface allowing contributors to submit and layout custom news pages for WNPR's website.

Our next Meetup will be the 3rd Tuesday next month: September 21st. Hope to see you all there and at DrupalCampCT in just over a week.
