Context Plug Ins Don't Work

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Hello,
When I try to change context the old fashioned way (required, since my wrench admin tool in the corner works only when it wants), I click on "Block" and nothing happens.
Same thing happens when I click on PATH. Or THEME.

How can I fix this?

Sure could use some advice here.
my inclination is to uninstall the context modules and reinstall. Hope doing so doesn't fubar my site.

And, as I suspected, my site is now completely FUBAR. The front page context has no blocks, and there is no way to add blocks.

Further information
Unable to change the front page context using the wrench menu, I am trying to do it the old way, by going to the context listings and editing.
But when I click "Block," nothing happens.
On one of my OP sites that works, I when I click Block, I am given the ability to choose which block will go where.
But on my newspaper site, I click block and nothing happens, except the url changes to: admin/build/context/list/openpublish-listing_pages-frontpage#context-plugin-form-block

I would appreciate any helpful suggestions. It's one thing for my site to be down on a Sunday. But when the work week starts, I can't afford it.

It doesn't appear that I could uninstall and reinstall Context if I wanted.
What's the best way to fix my broken context?
A complete reinstall would break me at this point, because of all of the customizations.

Going by the fact that

Going by the fact that nothing happened when you clicked on "Blocks" on the context edit page, it sounds like there was potentially some JS error involved that prevented the appropriate items from displaying. Could you please check for JS errors using Firebug's console?

But first, which version of OP are you currently using? What's the version number of Context? Manually reinstalling Context is not a good idea given that OP expects a specific version which is then patched through the installation profile, so my guess is that the re-installation made something worse. Depending on your OP version, we can determine which version of Context to roll back to in order to get this working again.

EDIT: see this for a full-list of patched modules: http://groups.drupal.org/node/60313

I am using OP 2.1. I am using

I am using OP 2.1.
I am using the context that came in 2.1.

Suddenly, yesterday, I was able to add blocks as an context activation once again.
Don't ask me how.
But it appears that certain functions of my website only work when they wish to work.
For example, as I posted earlier this week in the group, my admin "wrench" menu had stopped working. Then it started again. Then it stopped. Today, it is working again.

Today, after getting the front page and context working again, I was confronted with two new significant issues. Something about Gallery Assist or something about Open Publish causes all my galleries to break over time (perhaps during a run cron). Also, as I posted elsewhere here, I am no longer capable of embedding a video in a blog. However, I can embedd a video in the blog teaser on the front page.

I hate to nag, but I have spent hours and hours and hours, as I am sure you can relate, on this OP website. There are times when it's great for a know-nothing guy like myself. There are times, when things go haywire, when it is entirely frightening for know-nothing guy like myself.

Once again, I salute OP for a great program. But I think OP users need to stay on top of things and document problems.

Also, I am not sure it is wise to start patching modules used in OP. It will surely cause many users many headaches.

OpenPublish is a very

OpenPublish is a very powerful and sophisticated bundle to make online publishing easier for those who knows how to use Drupal. Any web publishing software which can be customized are like that. One needs to understand the base software (i.e., Drupal) well in order to deploy sites with OP (this is my opinion only).

Regarding the youtube video, make sure your input filter is not removing youtube tags.

Another thing is, I myself do not upgrade the core modules that are patched. I only update them when OP itself gets updated. This is how I avoid some of the problems that many people might be facing.

Another thing I believe is-- software is not a human, it doesn't have its own conscience. So something that was working yesterday cannot actually stop working today unless something has been changed somewhere. Always keep a log (in writing) what big change are you making, and make one change at a time and watch the consequences before making another major change.

Lastly, always make backup of your database and the installation directory whenever you make any change (install module or update them, for example).

I take daily backup of my databases using a script. Please see http://www.debianhelp.co.uk/mysqlscript.htm if you are interested.

Good luck with your endeavor.

That's fine. I have been learning drupal slowly for nearly a year now. And my interaction with OP is a main reason for it.

Thanks for your encouragement and the link. Without a doubt, I must be better at backing up databases.

The problem with only updating modules when OP does is that OP is limited. OP doesn't have a good gallery function that allows easy uploads of hundreds of photos at a time. I need that functionality, so I go outside of OP to get it. But sometimes, maintain those modules interferes with OP.

I agree with stattler. OP is

I agree with stattler. OP is a great turn-key product. The reason you are running into these issues is your lack of understanding of drupal itself. I have had a love/hate relationship with Drupal for the last few years because of the many things you are experiencing. It wasn't until I started working with modules one-by-one (Views, Context, Features) that it really came together. Trying to customize a distro, like OP without understanding these basics will give you sleepless nights.
