Drupal developer with access to fully specced Usability Lab

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I'm a web developer who has been working with Drupal for the last 12 months. I work for an interactive design agency based in central London, our resources include a fully specced usability Lab. The lab includes 2 way glass and real-time video monitoring and recording using Morae (software). I'm keen to become active in the Drupal Usability group and would be happy to conduct some usability tests.

Woot!

That's great! I assume you've heard about the UMN testing coming up? http://groups.drupal.org/node/7929

A lab isn't very useful without evaluators. Do you have resources to find evaluators? We could likely find some with the help of the London or UK drupal user groups; http://groups.drupal.org/london http://groups.drupal.org/united-kingdom

yes, I heard...

Yes, I did hear about the UMN testing, which is how I discovered this group ;)

FYI - I am also involved in the London Drupal user group. Don't currently have access to evaluators, would most likely be asking friends etc.

Let's plan to do another test in London 6 weeks after UMN

Hi, is there any chance you'd be willing to do this in approximately 8 weeks?

If we could take a snapshot 8 weeks into Drupal 7 and run more testing in the lab that would be ideal. If you are wiling, then I could help with the grassroots recruiting effort in London, remotely.

Cheers,
Kieran

I'll be at UMN, and live in

I'll be at UMN, and live in London. So dependent on timetabling I'd be very happy to help out with this. Would be great to see the changes and hopefully contribute to some continuity between the two rounds.

Happy to help out

I'm also living in London and would be happy to help out with a round of usability testing

Great Opportunity to Keep this Going

We might consider coordinating to incorporate details of this opportunity into the Drupcalon08 post-testing working session in the "next steps" portion of the program. Why don't you contact me if there is a possibility of formalizing dates and so forth prior to Drupalcon.

Negotiating access to the Lab

hunthunthunt's picture

Quick update:

Very pleased to see such a positive response to my post. My employers have agreed to the use of the lab in principal - though understandably they have security concerns.

Regarding timings, I'll be in Australia most of March so a date closer to early/mid April would be best.

I'll let you all know once (and if) access is definite.

Hi, I talked to people I know on Google's usability team last night. I've briefed them on the project and they'll accept a formal proposal to make use of their facilities in off hours.

Derek, Chad, Earl, Neil and I are all local, as well as many others. We could probably make something work.

Cheers,
Kieran
