I am very new to using drupal and have been teaching myself. I do not have a tech background either. I was wondering if there might be anyone out there that would or could provide some tutoring/mentoring type help. I am not asking for a lot nor will I abuse it. I generally like to figure things out myself but find I am getting stuck on a few things and am not getting better at understanding or using drupal. I have completed one site already for a former boss; its not great and is very basic, but its not hideous either. (www.ypigsfly.com - I didn't pick the name!) I am also building a site of my own & I know that I could do so much more with it but am just stuck right now. I do use a lot of online stuff, videos, others posts, and even leech info off my friend Steve when he is available, but am finding that the explanations are just a wee bit over my head sometimes.

As I mentioned I will certainly not abuse such help, (but do ask a lot of questions as I truly like to understand things) and I could probably only afford to pay you with a few beers, bragging rights when I actually create something great and of course accolades from me :)

Thanks!

LadyD,

I'm in a similar boat to yours...I have been learning drupal for the last few months and keep getting hung up on problems I know are basic.
Like you, I like to figure things out on my own but I know that with drupal I can spend four hours trying to work something out, finally get it and then duplicate it in ten minutes! Up to this point I can put a pretty good site together but want to take it to the next level.
So if you want to focus brainpower with me maybe we can help each other out?
Let me know.

make that 3 heads . . .

Have been using drupal for just a few weeks now. Have 2 sites out -> laptop.net and uglybabies.com
Would like to be able to post questions as well from time to time as well as help anybody out if I can.

count me in too.

Question for the Vancouver Drupal pros - When was the last time we had a session devoted to helping out the noobs? I know we can ask questions at any meeting but it would be great to attend a workshop catered to those who are new at this.

what would you like to see?

There is no master plan for presentations. I gladly book the people who volunteer, and recruit/harass/convince/nicely ask others when I discover they have something interesting to say.

If you have ideas/suggestions for things you'd like to see, let's hear them!

We have a the wiki page at Presentation Planning for exactly this (This link is also in the intro text at the top of the http://groups.drupal.org/vancouver page). If people see there's interest in something they know about, they're more likely to present (that's the theory), and we sometimes know of people who can present.

And if all goes to plan we'll have a Drupal 101 stream for Drupal Camp Vancovuer.

Drupal 101 - I like

I vote for Drupal 101 at Drupal Camp Vancouver. :)
