Sorry guys, I won't be able to make this meeting as I've been summoned to DC to sell a project for Drupal Connect. Best of luck with the meeting.

Good news on the Linux video

Good news on the Linux video support. Ubuntu comes built in with a Remote Desktop server which easily connects to a Mac over a local network. We've run tests and we get an excellent screen capture from it. (VGA, unfortunately, sucks as bad as described and even worse.)

That means we'll be able to cast all Ubuntu Desktops without installing any software (provided you keep your system up-to-date).

I guess we'd need to see a demo...

... in order to understand what is being proposed and to give feedback. I know that the concerns that have been expressed so far were that:

1) we have a solution that works for everybody
2) installing software on peoples' machines was problematic (i.e. even raises security concerns)
3) we needed to request that session proposers indicate what platform they'd be using for their presentations (has this been done?)

if your solution work fine then go for it but if you have issues we could talk about using our remote control and demo software that has recording capabilities and work on win/mac/linux over the web

Procedure for Ubuntu Remote Desktop casting

Will cross-post this to the Wiki as well as do a demo tonight at the meeting.

DBN.ca will use the VNC protocol to grab the screen capture of your computer while you work on it in real-time. Here is how to enable remote desktop use in Ubuntu Linux 10

1) Under System->Preferences open Remote Desktop
2) Set to Allow other users to view your desktop
3) Check Require the user to enter a password and set your password that you will then share with the DBN team. Uncheck the other security boxes.
4) Close the dialog

To watch an Ubuntu live screen from a Mac
1) On Mac OS Snow Leopard, open finder, click Go and Connect to server
2) Enter vnc://localip.of.ubuntu.box

This will only work over local networks.

If you do not have Ubuntu Remote Desktop installed, open the Ubuntu Software Center, search for "Remote Desktop", install "Remote Desktop".

I will be there

I will be there. I am hoping that my workers' co-op proposal will be discussed.

We'll be happy to see you but...

...this is a DrupalCamp planning session so any discussion about creating a workers coops will, IMO, be limited to informal exchanges.

I have to bail as well but

I won't be able to stay, but I have made plans to start working on the badges with Jenny, we'll have a design to propose early next week.
