Start:
2008-03-19 18:30 Canada/Eastern - 2008-03-19 21:00 Canada/Eastern

Location: Java U, 5511 Monkland Ave, Montréal
Time: 6:30pm - 9 ish

If you want to learn more about how Drupal development works by actually participating in the process, and you'd like some help getting an environment setup so you can try your hand at patching, CVS, and all that stuff, then stop on by!

This sort of ad-hoc meetup is a follow-up to a talk I did a few months ago at one of the Montreal Girl Geek Dinners about open source, contributing, and all that kind of stuff. Some interest had been expressed in finding out more about contributing to Drupal specifically, so now that I'm home for a few days ;), a couple of us are going to meet up and talk about it. :)

Awesome

I'll be there. I'm still trying to work my way through the whole CVS thing, so this should help me out.

Merci de l'invitation.

Intro...

Ka1N - Wed, 2008-03-19 01:43

Hi all,

just came across your group. Trying to figure out "knowledge" requirements to participate...

I come from the "management/planning/deployment/testing/selling" side of the business, sysadmin, etc... but don't have any real programming skills. Similar to my spanish, I understand a few words and can order a beer.. ;)

I have however fallen into the Drupal pool and would be interested in meeting people working with it. Learning this new platform is quite interesting and am looking at extending my experience with it.

Am I at the right place ?
(Haven't noticed any "introduce yourself" section, so I'm just adding it here.)

Welcome

Yep, you're in the right place. Feel free to come to this meeting. At least you'll meet the local Drupallers and have a cup of coffee (or tea) too.

Doh!

Only noticing this now... so how was it? Sorry I wasn't there.

BTW, next planned meeting is April 11th, 14h at Bande-Passante : 8655 Saint-Denis (métro Crémazie). Open to all, of course. We could discuss Drupal 6 as was proposed a couple of months ago but we're up for anything ;)

Was fun! (I hope? ;))

I was trying to walk folks through how to test the fabulous Ajax popups patch, only to find out that it didn't actually work. ;) However, the folks there with laptops got to play around with CVS and patch, and see how Drupal development works. Hopefully people come back even though the task turned into a bit of a mess. ;)

Robin, you should post that meet-up as a separate event so people know about it and it shows up in the list of upcoming events. I can't be there unfortunately, I'm going to be in Australia. :\ Have an awesome time, though!

I missed this CVS patching party

I missed this meetup cause of my broken arm.

I'll try to be at the next one. How many people did show up?

Separate post

Yes, that's part of the plan, although I probably won't be posting it myself, someone will ;)
