Agenda
View for Hackers
Views is a breathtaking module that allows non-programmers to create arbitrary SQL queries and format their result. Its open internal architecture allows contributed modules to extend its capabilities almost infinitely. Karim Ratib will present Views from a programming perspective. Starting with the Views object model, he will go through: Adding new tables for Views consumption, writing plugins and handlers for all sorts of Views entities, and hacking Views internals when needed.
Karim Ratib, known as infojunkie on Drupal.org, is a freelance Drupal programmer in Vancouver. He maintains a number of Drupal modules, including the high profile Views Bulk Operations module. His website is thereisamoduleforthat.com.
Lightning Talks
Attendees are invited to share their experience by giving a 2 to 4 minute presentation on any topic of interest to the Drupal community. If you want to use a laptop to show a website or control panel please be sure you have the necessary cable to connect to an overhead projector.
Drupal Q&A
Bring your questions on anything related to Drupal from how to do something technical in PHP to what modules are needed to implement a feature you want.
Our Thanks
We wish to thank The Jibe Multimedia, Inc. for hosting this month's meeting.

Slides for presentation

October 2010 meeting is Thursday October 28th!
It seems mixing up dates in announcements is a special curse of mine. One of the two date mentions in the meeting announcement was wrong. It's been updated to the correct date (thus destroying any incriminating evidence!).
The October 2010 meeting is Thursday October 28.
I apologize if this has caused any inconvenience for anyone and thank you Steve K for pointing this out.
Updated slides and video
You can find the material at my site. Thanks everyone for attending and special thanks to Roland Tanglao for recording and posting the video!
Great presentation, Thanks.
Thanks very much.
I was surprised to learn that Views has 95K+ lines of code, although some of this is documentation, etc.
And as the powerful module that it is it was wonderful to have it explained in a way that makes it simpler to understand.
I found your overview of Views as a query generator and renderer and your slide of the Architecture helpful in understanding the components of the Views UI and how they relate to the query and rendering. This helps to add perspective to the Views UI and relationships and arguments especially for those new to Drupal not just coders looking to develop views hacks.
Thanks for the presentation and updated slides.
