Drupal Meetup in Columbia - Monday, October 10, 6 pm
Despite my failure to post announcements on this page, the Columbia Drupal Group has continued to meet every month. Where have you been, people?? Busy with stuff other than Drupal?
Well, the weather's getting cooler and the days are getting shorter-- what do you say we all show up for the October 10 meeting?? If you haven't been to the IT-Ology building, it's well worth a visit-- it's a beautiful facility.

Anyone interested in helping hack on a new helpdesk distro?
While working on a project for the Palmetto Technology Hub, a couple folks from #CHSDUG and I found there are no great open source helpdesk systems. I've tried Storm and Casetracker, and they're too basic. Support Ticketing System logs notes as comments, so we lose the internal/external split and easy access control. osTicket is what we currently use at the Tech Hub and it's pretty mediocre. Most other open source options haven't been updated in 2 years or longer. All the proprietary options that are halfway decent are expensive.

Columbia International University New Site on Drupal
We recently completed a redevelopment of our Higher Education marketing site onto the Drupal platform. It took us just over a year to migrate it from a custom PHP site.

I am the lead developer on it.
We are still trying to figure some stuff out for it, like staged vs. live modules and speed issues. If any one has any ideas or tips, let me know.

Well it's about time we got the ball rolling on planning for Drupal Camp Asheville. The goal is to have a meeting (presumably at Top Floor Studio in Asheville, NC) in two weeks to get the base plan laid out.

We are in the early planning stages for Drupalcamp Atlanta 2011 and wanted to throw Saturday, October 8th out as a potential date.
Does anyone know if this conflicts with any other Drupal/OSS events or major happenings in the Atlanta area? I know Do it With Drupal and the Pacific Northwest Drupal Summit are scheduled for the following week.

The next Columbia meetup will be held a week later than usual, on Monday, April 18, 2011, at 6:00 in a new location.
We will be meeting at the IT-ology offices located at 1301 Gervais St, which is at the corner of Sumter St. This location should be an improvement for us and is a perfect fit. Please take the opportunity to see this beautiful facility designed to promote information technology in South Carolina.

I have yet to get the sermon section down, but I wanted to get a few ideas from the community on how to make it better. I didn't design the site, someone in our church did that.
