At the June Madison Drupal meetup, I promised to post a little writeup on my site along with the CSS and PHP code for the custom theme I showed off. I finally got around to posting that information at http://www.sunsetlakesoftware.com/2008/06/21/architecture-site . The theme is attached to the post, but it is a Zen subtheme, so you'll need the Zen theme installed on your Drupal 6 site to use it.

I think TinyMCE is one of the most popular JavaScript WYSIWYG editors in Drupal. FCKEditor is an alternative to TinyMCE and I like it a little better because it is a little easier to configure. It also has its own file upload manager built in, but IMCE integrates a little better with Drupal's role system.

Here is that Drupal 5 theme cheat sheet that we talked about at yesterdays meeting.

Site is already developed. Client is looking for someone to do basic changes on an as-needed basis (image is in incorrect spot only in IE6) and to help set up a blog. Client would prefer someone in the Madison, WI area, if possible.

This month Brad will be presenting on Themeing for Drupal 6.

We'll follow the usual format:

7-8 Presentation

I'd be interested in learning the basics of module creation at a future Drupal users group meeting. I know basic PHP, not sure if I know enough to write my own mod, but I've had to modify Drupal code in the past and done so successfully.

Discussing Drupal in Wisconsin, our working together, brain storming future needs and general discussion is the Aim here.

Looking for D6 advice, from what I can figure out, there are three options (probably more)

1. User management-Profile (add fields)
2. Create Content - Profile as content
3. CCK

I want to create a site that has two main users: Volunteers and Organizations - so I've set up these two roles now I want to create two profile types, one for each role. How/Where should I create my extra fields so that they are available on registration, editable by the user and searchable.

Help - new drupalee wannabe

We are in need of a graphic designer to work with us on our new drupal site. We are a social networking and jobs site that is in a redesign phase. If interested, post a comment and we can chat.

Like last month we'll do demo's and discussion from 6-7. Come ready to show off your site, talk about recent challenges, and problem solve as a group.

From 7-8 we'll talk about the Views module (Views 1 for Drupal 5 and a quick look at the Views 2 beta for Drupal 6).

We're an online media startup in Madison and we're thinking about using Drupal for our CMS on our social networking site. We're all new to Drupal here and are wondering if anyone can get together for an introduction to it.

A few of us up here in Northwestern Wisconsin are trying to get together the first-ever Western Wisconsin BarCamp. We're in the early organizing phases - meaning mostly we're mulling it over and looking for a time and place. Of course, the BarCamp will feature lots of Drupal love.

I thought I'd create this thread as a place to put feedback about DrupalBootCamp UIUC and see what that will mean for our May BU DrupalBootCamp.

I thought the UIUC Drupal event was very informative. I liked that each speaker had a short stint on their topic, and things moved along at a good pace. Starting off with your presentation provided a nice segue into the rest of the morning topics.

After a month off, we're bringing the Drupal meetup back.

I'll come ready to talk about sessions and tricks learned at DrupalCon Boston, but I'd rather spend our time sharing our work.

The Flourish conference is next weekend (April 4th and 5th), and it seems like a logical place to do some Drupal marketing.

I was only able to attend for a couple of hours, but really enjoyed what I got to absorb.

We need a themer who can create something for our Drupal site when we relaunch. THe deadline, as always, is ASAP, but realistically, you'll have at least four weeks to get this project done. We've done all the work of moving the data over, we simply need a theme with two major pages. The old site is at www.rogershospital.org.

I've been trying to get a podcasting system set up at Writelarge.com, because I'd like to dust off my podcast and start reading my stories again.

Drupal kind of rocks for Podcasting. The software to upload and include a local or remote file in your RSS feed is pretty much handled all in the background, which is very nice if you're writing to a feed.

I probably can't attend any of these (I work for UW, but live in Oakland, CA), but people interested in spreading Drupal at UW-Madison could go to some of these to participate and advocate. Here's what DoIT's recent email says about the classes:

Building a site of referral services for a charity/social organization.

I’ll be using Drupal 5.1.
I believe that most everything can be done with the existing modules:
Subscribed, IM_Paypal, Fivestar or Jrating, Advertisment, Classified Ads, Job Search, Survey.

Also think I could get by with one of the available themes.

Site only needs one module complete to go live. Other modules/services will be added after.

There was quite the demand for Drupal at both BarCampMilwaukee and BarCampMadison. A couple of us are getting together to start planning a Drupal Camp. I've set up a drupal wiki (from an installation profile, total install time 15 minutes -- due to a slow shared host database server) at http://drupalcamp.blakehall.org

We're still in the VERY early stages of planning so we don't have details (like a date) yet.

If you're interested in helping plan feel free to post links, session ideas, etc...

i'm in Madison this week for my day job (believe it or not, i'm academic staff at UW-Madison in the computer science department, even though i live in Oakland, CA). i was thinking it might be fun to try to throw together a drupal meet-up of some sort while i'm here. maybe wednesday 2006-12-13 after work? i don't know if there's a standard place where madison meetups have happened in the past... we could certainly do it on campus somewhere (especially easy for me if we did it in the CS department, or union south, etc). or, we could hit a coffee shop or something (i think y'all met at cafe assisi once before, if memory serves me right -- i played a few gigs there when i still lived out here grin).

What days/times are good for everyone? Is there a centrally located place that is quiet enough, offers non-smoking space, and has free wifi?

The Havens Center in the UW-Madison Sociology Dep't is looking to hire a work study eligible student for doing some Drupal related work. Applicants can get in touch with me through the contact form in my profile.

Someone contacted me about the idea of having some Drupal stuff go on at Barcamp Milwaukee. I can't guarantee my presence but i'm currently considering it... Might be a good time to meet up.

Erich and I plan to meet next week at Potbelly's sandwich shop (at 161 W Wisconsin Ave), to discuss Drupal 4.6/4.7 configuration and setup, CCK, theme overrides, and custom themes.

We know very little about all these subjects, but we will combine our ignorance into something truly amazing.

Come join us, and we can add your knowledge, introduce ourselves, and broaden the scope of the meeting to include any topic you care to bring up.

I'm trying to start up a group of webmasters, bloggers, etc. in Wisconsin that is dedicated to progressive politics. If anyone is interested in joining such a group, please let me know. Our first activity will be to have a booth at Fighting Bob Fest next month.

Blake from DANEnet, Patricia and Sheldon from Center for Media and Democracy and myself (from Midwest Social Forum) met for about 2 hours at Michelangelo's. We spent much of the time introducing ourselves and our various projects, and got into some details about various modules and implementations we're dealing with. Apparently we're all fans of the mapping modules....

We actually spent most of the time talking about the Midwest Social Forum (new Drupal site that went live yesterday!). Initially, i brought up the idea of working with other folks to put together a workshop on social software, which would present Drupal along with some other tools out there that community orgs and social movements can make use of. How does next Wednesday May 24th work for folks?

I'm thinking maybe 6pm at say Michelangelo's on State Street (they have free wifi).

When you login as a regular member, what are you allowed to do: "create poll", "create story", "create event", etc.?

Any bugs, glitches, or missing features you notice?

I'm asking, so I know how heavily each member has to rely on the manager to do things vs. doing them on their own.

Please add comments that indicate where and when you might like to meet up in person.

If you want, add details about your interests regarding Drupal and anything else you want to say to introduce yourself.

Let's leave this thread open for a few weeks as we gather new people.
