I just thought I'd call attention to the fact that two gatherings with some potential overlapping interest groups are both taking place in San Diego the same weekend in January (the 8th/9th are the overlapping days).
Mostly, though, I thought any out of towner librarians who might be coming for ALA Midwinter would like to know of the option to hit up SandCamp on Saturday/Sunday in case they need a respite from the library conference and want to get their Drupal on.

Thanks
Tommy: Thanks for the reference and suggestion and the nice promo. If the ALA members would like, we can add some sessions specifically for Libraries & Drupal.

How do we reach/alert librarians?
So how do we tell those librarians about SandCamp? The overlap of interest is obvious, it just a matter of getting the message out.

promo
Hi all, I'd love to offer an ad spot on ALA's magazine site (gratis of course) to help promote this. My magazine site was one of two or three early attempts to bring Drupal into ALA, and we were inspired to go that route by the strong community of librarians who use the platform.
So, especially if there are some library related sessions we could specifically promote through the ad, and we could craft it as a sort of supplement to the ALA conference experience (so that it doesn't seem like a conflict), i'd love to help promote. What I'd need for an ad is the artwork (contact me for sizing... we can leave that pretty open-ended though), and something to link to. I'll also help with press/promo work outside my own channel if there's any way i can pitch in.
Anyway, count me in... let me know how I can help.

Sean, that's awesome! Thank
Sean, that's awesome! Thank you.
Artwork: Badges are at http://2011.sandcamp.org/get-your-sandcamp-badge Those should allow a decent start, I think.

Sessions: We will have a structured - bordering on formal - beginners track. If we can swing it we'll even have a professional Drupal Trainer for the bulk of it. Balboa Park Online Collaborative will present a case study of museum sites, which will certainly have some non-technical overlap with librarian interests. Beyond that we rely on session proposals (you won't have to present it necessarily) to cater to the needs of SandCampers, so use the Create Session link (http://2011.sandcamp.org/node/add/session) to help us out.
Promotion: From my vantage point one could push the "many libraries use Drupal - find out what it is all about" angle.
Let me know how else we can help you get this ad and promotion going.

Popular Blogs & Session
Hi all,
I work for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Academic Libraries and we're a Drupal shop (http://digital.library.unlv.edu). I'm already helping with the SandCamp site, and plan on giving a couple design-related talks. If there's interest, I would be happy to give a talk on how we're using Drupal at UNLV, and what my plans are for the future.
Also, having been worked in Libraries for a couple years now, I have built up a collection of some popular & high-quality blogs. I've emailed the following blog authors / somewhat well known librarians to inform them of SandCamp, and gave them the badge info in hopes some might find it interesting and pass it along:
Cheers,

Hi All,
I also posted an announcement to the Web4Lib Mailing list, which is a fairly popular mailing list for Web Types who work in libraries.
