In order to add another method of getting support, has anyone ever considered standardising the IRC channel names as twitter hashtags?
When I'm not recruiting I'm a SQL DBA, the twitter hashtag #sqlhelp is used if you want to tweet about a problem you are having.
Obviously there is a wealth of options with regard to giving/receiving support in Drupal already.
I'm simply wondering if a new standard added to Drupal.org/community documenting hashtags that should be used would be of benefit. My personal view (at least it is for now - this may change) is that it would be a good thing.
- It would provide quick timely responses to problems
- Get more information re Drupal out there
- A lot of people already use twitter to ask friends tech questions (hashtag standards would simply open this up to others)
- Make things easy for new users unfamiliar with IRC (I know there's not much to it but could be a possible barrier for some).
Equally I could understand an argument stating that it would possibly lead to the dissemination of relevant information that is currently all in one place.
Anyway .... before I have an entire discussion with myself. Does anyone else have any thoughts?

My main thought was that there is a wealth of information on twitter with regard to Drupal support. I follow a lot of people related to Drupal, I regularly see tweets ask a specific question, or throw a thought out there about a topic someone is working on. Followed by some very knowledgeable links and tips tweeted in reply.
Setting a hashtag standard would open up this information to the wider community - it's currently lost unless RT. If the original tweet is around drupal theming add #drupal-theming, if it's about HTML5 add #drupal-html5. The #drupal tag is widely used and very helpful, I think adding other standards could be a benefit.
If you want to open your tweet to different audiences use a couple of tags.
Possibly it's over complicating things.
